Jamie Langenbrunner will be a healthy scratch for the St. Louis Blues' season opener. Langenbrunner had eight goals and 24 points in 70 games last season. He'll make his season debut eventually, but we don't expect him to have any fantasy value in standard leagues this season.

At 37, St. Louis Blues forward Jamie Langenbrunner signed a one-year, $1.25 million extension last summer that in all reality could be the swan song of his 17-year NHL career. He's made approximately $27.4 million over his career, but financially secure or not, a lockout isn't the way he drew up the ending. Still, he stands by his union brethren. "It's frustrating for everybody depending on what situation you're in," he said. "Speaking for myself, it could be the last year and it's not a lot of fun sitting out like this. On the other hand, I don't think there's any wavering in the way I feel about it. It wasn't our choice to be locked out. We feel like we've given the opportunity for that to be taken care of. It's frustrating, but unfortunately it's what this business has turned into the last 15 years . these fights over stuff that maybe shouldn't be that hard to figure out." Referencing retirement, he added, "It definitely crosses your mind, but I think this time also prepares you for it. I've gotten involved in coaching the kids' teams and quite frankly, I've gotten to enjoy that aspect of it."

Blues GM Doug Armstrong doesn't see Jamie Langenbrunner as a top-six forward at this stage of his career. "We still think Jamie's got some good hockey left in him," Armstrong said. "I would say at 37, he's not on the upswing of his career. But we don't envision him like we did last year coming in here as a top-six forward. There's a role for many different elements than just scoring a goal to having a successful team. We think he provides a lot of those things that are necessary to win." No real surprise there, but in case you needed further proof that you should pencil in Langenbrunner for a bottom-six role, there it is. Langenbrunner signed a one-year extension with the Blues on Tuesday.

Jamie Langenbrunner has inked a one-year contract extension with the St. Louis Blues. The deal is reportedly worth $1.25 million, but he could end up making an additional $250,000 if he meets the requirements for his bonus. Langenbrunner had six goals and 24 points in 70 games with St. Louis last season. He'll continue provide the Blues with a veteran presence while primarily serving as a bottom-six forward.

Jamie Langenbrunner, who is slated to become an unrestricted free agent on Sunday, wants to return to the St. Louis Blues. Langenbrunner was not fantasy relevant last season with only six goals and 24 points in 70 games and considering he will be 37 at the start of the 2012-13 season, he should not be drafted in fantasy pools. That being said, he is a valuable veteran on the ice and in the dressing room. "The fact that it's almost (Sunday), it's likely that'll happen," Langenbrunner said with regards to his becoming a UFA. "But in saying that, I'm not really about moving my family all over the country. We like it (in St. Louis) and my thought is hopefully that will work out ... today, tomorrow, or next week. The season doesn't start tomorrow."

Jamie Langenbrunner netted just his fifth goal of the season on Tuesday. Langenbrunner scored 29 goals in 2008-09, but the days of him having any fantasy value in standard leagues are over. Unless you're in a particularly deep draft, you shouldn't select Langenbrunner in 2012-13.

Jamie Langenbrunner was activated off the injured reserve and is expected to play for the St. Louis Blues on Sunday. Langenbrunner is a little ahead of schedule from a broken foot that was supposed to keep him out another week or so. He's not the impact fantasy player he once was, but he's a useful depth veteran for the Blues.

Jamie Langenbrunner (foot) could return to the St. Louis lineup at some point next week. Langenbrunner suffered the injury on Feb. 19 and it was thought he would miss four weeks so he could return shortly. "With a broken bone, there's only so much you can do." Langenbrunner said. "I'm pushing it as much as I can and trying to make sure I keep my conditioning up. When I'm ready to go, I'm not going to be a dropoff on the team." He skated on Friday. Langenbrunner had four goals and 21 points in 57 games with a plus-nine rating so his fantasy value is limited at best.

Jamie Langenbrunner was placed on injured reserve Tuesday with a broken bone in his left foot. Coach Ken Hitchcock will no doubt miss the veteran's leadership. Always sound positionally and strong on the PK, Langenbrunner was 4-17-21 and a plus-9 in 57 games. He will be reevaluated in four weeks.
