He's unlikely to receive many starts, though. The Panthers are trying to chase down a playoff berth, and Roberto Luongo is locked into a starter's workload.

It's probably wise not to overreact to Friday's strong showing, but Reimer definitely warrants a look in upcoming favorable matchups when receiving the starting nod.

One would think that Reimer would've been permitted to finish the game under ordinary circumstances, but the Panthers were playing for the second time in as many days and Roberto Luongo -- who returned from a groin injury Saturday -- evidently wasn't ready to go back-to-back. Reimer has endured plenty of hits and misses this season, but he may have earned the trust of fantasy owners by posting an 11-6-2 record and .920 save percentage in 20 games as a stop-gap option for Luongo, when he was tending to his affliction.

The 29-year-old netminder will look to bounce back from that sub-par performance and pick up a second straight win in a favorable road matchup with a Canucks club that's 10-14-3 at home this season.

This turned into a track meet, and one of Edmonton's goals was on a penalty shot, so it's difficult to be too critical of Reimer in his return to action Monday. After all, his last start was Jan. 23. The veteran sports a 14-12-5 record, .909 save percentage and 3.10 GAA for the campaign, and with Roberto Luongo (lower body) back at practice, Reimer's fantasy upside is likely to become quite limited sooner than later.

Reimer, who was recently activated off injured reserve, will be the road starter against the Oilers on Monday.

EDGE Analysis

This will be Reimer's first start after missing six games with a groin injury. The 29-year-old has had a rough season, as he's sporting a 3.04 GAA and a .911 save percentage through 32 outings. The Oilers have only scored 2.78 goals per game at home, 24th in the NHL, but it will be interesting to see how Reimer looks in his return to action.
