Goalie Start: Couple subtle hints it's Reimer vs. Canucks tonight b... dailyfaceoff.com Sat 11/2/13 7:56 PM
This is from a reporter who was speaking with Jonathan Bernier and James Reimer, looks like we will have to wait until pre-game warmups. If it is Reimer, he is 2-0 with a 0.50 GAA and .988 SV% with a shutout in his last two starts. The Maple Leafs have the best problem right now with both their netminders playing at a high level. Reimer has a 1.99 GAA and .949 SV% on the season, but has a tough mathchup vs. the red-hot Sedin's and the Canucks tonight.
DAILY PRIME - OCTOBER 30, 2013: QUIET ISLANDER DEBUT FOR VANEK primepucks.com Wed 10/30/13 6:23 AM
With all the talk surfacing on Thomas Vanek immediately being placed on the top Islander's scoring line with John Tavares and Kyle Okposo upon arrival, many fantasy owners expected immediate results. Well, it doesn't happen that way folks. In their 3-2 loss to the New York Rangers, both he and JT were held off the scoreboard while he registered only one SOG. Chemistry doesn't happen overnight, so fantasy owners need to be patient. Tavares and Matt Moulson had developed a great bond as linemates, so now he needs to adjust to a quicker and more physical winger on his left side. It might take a few games, but there is huge upside to this union between elite center and a winger on the cusp of elite status. Get your hands on either player if you can, as their true fantasy value as a duo has not been realized yet.
Big Nights for Toews and Kessel: In Chicago, the Blackhawks rallied behind Jonathan Toews' four-point effort in defeating Ottawa 6-5 after trailing by two goals. While the captain was mired in a small scoring drought, his third career regular season "hat trick" and assist brings his totals to 13 points in 13 games. While his intangibles are immeasurable in terms of his overall contributions to his team, he is basically a point-per-game player in fantasy. He will have his huge nights, but his upside does not compare to the elite scoring forwards of the game, like Phil Kessel. Yes, "Phil The Thrill" does not belong in the Top Five fantasy club yet, but he could be there soon. In Toronto's 5-0 romp of Edmonton, the speedy winger scored two goals and 2 assists, despite missing his regular center Tyler Bozak. No problem with chemistry as Nazem Kadri (2A) has moved up effortlessly to provide a solid 1-2 scoring punch on the top line. With 10 points in the last 4 games, Kessel is now tied for second in NHL scoring with 18 points. Roll with him all season, as he is poised for a huge breakout.
Goalie Power: James Reimer continues to be amazing between the Toronto pipes, saving all 43 shots against the offensively gifted Oilers. With a 4-0 record, 1.99 GAA, and .949 SP, the goaltending controversy between him and Jonathan Bernier as the long-term solution in goal for the Leafs has not dissipated by the slightest. Expect the two to play long stretches of games when they are hot, but assuming Bernier would be their starter in the playoffs seems a bit premature. Let's see how this plays out..Mike Smith stopped 41 of 42 shots in the Coyotes 2-1 victory over the ...

THE GOALIE EDGE: 10/29/2013 primepucks.com Tue 10/29/13 4:14 PM
Will the Price be right tonight? Back to the Bell Center after back-up Peter Budaj pitched a shutout in MSG, the Canadiens should have the upper hand against the Stars. Kari Lehtonen(LIKELY) has not been sharp since returning from injury, so look for Carey Price to get back to winning at home... Revenge match for the Blues against the Jets, but this time it will not be Brian Elliott in net. Jaroslav Halak draws the start, and St. Looey should be ready to roll over a weak Jets team on the road. Take Halak.. Will Richard Bachman be the Oiler's savior in the crease? Amazing 47-save effort last time out, but his career stats- .885 SP in 13 career games-say otherwise. Toronto's James Reimer will be motivated from great win against Pittsburgh, so he has a huge edge in this goaltending matchup. Toronto all night..

Reimer added another chapter to Toronto's goalie controversy on Saturday. He stopped 37 shots, leading the Maple Leafs to a 4-1 win over the Pittsburgh Penguins. He has now won each of his last two starts while making 35-plus saves. He should make for a good start tonight against the Oilers 18th ranked offence.

Injury: James Reimer is on the ice for Maple Leafs practice. dailyfaceoff.com Fri 10/18/13 2:56 PM
Reimer left Thursday's game with an apparent head injury. He has a history of concussions, so this is a positive sign that his injury is not serious.
Goalie Start: Ward vs. Reimer. dailyfaceoff.com Thu 10/17/13 7:56 PM
Reimer stopped 36 of 37 shots in a 4-1 win over the Wild on Tuesday. After Jonathan Bernier has a streak of four straight starts, Reimer showed that he can still be the number one guy in Toronto. He will get another chance tonight vs. Carolina.
