Injury: Reimer (head) left Sunday's game and will not return. dailyfaceoff.com Mon 10/13/14 12:56 AM
Reimer's first start of the season ended early after suffering a head/neck injury in an incidental collision with Rangers' forward Dominic Moore. Reimer had a nice evening going, having stopped 24 of 26 shots, but given his history of neck injuries, the Maple Leafs elected to pull him from the game as a precaution. He left with a 6-2 lead intact.
Goalie Start: Reimer leads the Maple Leafs onto the ice for warmups... dailyfaceoff.com Sun 10/12/14 7:56 PM
Reimer had a rough year in 2013-14, he went 12-16-1 with a 3.29 GAA and .911 SV% and took a clear backseat to Jonathan Bernier. Tonight, he will look to get the Maple Leafs into the win column. Bernier has allowed nine goals on 64 shots (.877 SV%) so a good start from Reimer could earn him some more playing time early in the season.

NHL IN 30: TORONTO MAPLE LEAFS 2014-2015 primepucks.com Wed 9/17/14 6:09 PM
The Toronto Maple Leafs surprised everyone two years ago by making the playoffs and last year they surprised their fans who thought that they were pretty much a lock to return but fell a few points shy of the 8th and final playoff spot. During this past off-season the Leafs held steady except for signing a few role players to round out their forward lines by inking one-time Leaf Matt Frattin and also Mike Santorelli. The belief is that the existing core of forwards will improve and take that next step. Gone is Nikolai Kulemin. The Leafs also kept their goaltending duo of Jonathan Bernier and James Reimer intact, both of whom should improve upon last season's numbers.
GOALIES
In what many believed was to be a 50-50 split in games started between Bernier and Reimer, it was Bernier who basically won over the starting job as he started in 49 of the 55 games he played in. In his first stint as a starter, Bernier posted a 26-19-7 record with a 2.69 GAA and a .923 SP. Not great, but a better than Reimer's numbers of 3.29 and .911 respectively. Expect Bernier to get the lion's share of starts this season. There were rumors that Reimer would be traded but for now, he is a more than qualified backup to Bernier.
DEFENSE
There wasn't much change on defense during the summer except for the free-agent signing of former Dallas D-man Stephane Robidas. Robidas should bring more veteran presence to the blueline along with Dion Phaneuf. Morgan Rielly and Jake Gardiner, as well as Cody Franson, should give the best chances at production. There has been word that Gardiner will assume more of an offensive responsibility, and if that is the case and Rielly progresses, Franson's numbers could take a hit. With this defense corps, you probably would see high offensive production, but each of the top four could get approximately 40 points each.
FORWARDS
There is no doubt that Phil Kessel is the go-to guy on this squad. Kessel was on pace to surpass his best season high in points of 82 amassed in 2011-2012 but fell short because of a dry spell he hit towards the end of last season. Expect his production to progress a little more, possibly into the 90's as he is hitting his prime. IF you miss out on Kessel, don't let James van Riemsdyk slip too far as he is ready for another jump in points. Last season saw his point totals hit 61 with 30 goals. I'm sure the Flyers are wishing they had him back now. CenterTyler Bozak enjoyed having Kessel on his wing, so much so that ...
Signing: The Maple Leafs signed goaltender James Reimer to a two-ye... dailyfaceoff.com Sun 7/27/14 2:56 PM
Reimer, 26, had a tough season in his first year of a timeshare with Jonathan Bernier. He finished the season 12-16-1 with a 3.29 GAA and .911 SV% which included a stretch of five straight losses when Bernier was injured--a time the Leafs really needed Reimer to step-up. Toronto does not look like the place for Reimer long-term so this deal gives the Maple Leafs a high-end back-up to start the season and the ability to trade him if the right offer comes along.
DAILY PRIME- JULY 10, 2014: DUCKS SNAG HEATLEY;ARBITRARY LEAFS primepucks.com Thu 7/10/14 7:34 AM
Former 50-goal scorer Dany Heatley has found a new home as the Anaheim Ducks have signed him to a one-year/$1M deal. The 33-year old has been on a downward spiral since his first season for San Jose, where he recorded 39 goals and 82 points in 09-10'. His 28 points for Minny last seasons allowed the Ducks to snag him at a discount price, giving them another veteran addition to possibly round out the top-six. It's hard to have any more faith in Heatley as a dependable fantasy option, but given the lack of impact left-wingers on the Anaheim squad, what if he plays himself onto the top line with Ryan Getzlaf and Corey Perry? Totally plausible, considering this might be Heatley's last opportunity to resurrect his career on a legitimate Stanley Cup contender. Defintely worth a late, late round gamble in most fantasy drafts.
ARBITRARY LEAFS: The Leafs have two 26-year old's, James Reimer and Cody Franson, coming off sub-years and opting for arbitration in the coming weeks. While there is a great chance that both will be out of Toronto via trades soon, it seems too early to write both of them off as future solid NHL performers. Yes, Reimer has taken a step back ever since the Game 7 meltdown against Boston in the 2013 playoffs, but his numbers were rock solid that season (19-8, 2.46 GAA, and .924 SP). The acquisition of Jonathan Bernier has made it clear that Reimer was no longer viewed as Toronto's starting goalie of the future, so maybe a change of scenery would help get his career back on track. As for Franson, he seems to have fallen behind youngster's Morgan Reilly and Jake Gardiner as future power-play staples at the point. In 12-13', the former Nashville d-man led the way for the Leafs blue-line with 29 points in 45 games. His situation is way more muddled than Reimer's, considering that Gardiner and Dion Phaneuf have also been mentioned in various trade rumors. One thing is certain; one of these offensive defensemen seems likely to get moved.
Goalie Start: Reimer will start for Toronto. dailyfaceoff.com Sat 4/12/14 2:56 PM
Remier allowed two goals on 33 shots in a loss to the Lightning on Tuesday. Ouch, this guy just can win this season. While this game is meaningless in the standings, the battle of Ontario is never meaningless to the Sens and Leafs. Each team will be looking for the W tonight.
Goalie Start: Reimer starts for the Maple Leafs. dailyfaceoff.com Tue 4/8/14 7:56 PM
Reimer was tagged with four goals on 41 shots in a 4-2 loss to the Jets on Saturday. Reimer still has not recorded a win in a game he started since January 21st. The Leafs have completely imploded and need to run the table with help to even have a sniff at the playoffs. Reimer will take on a Lightning team who lit him up for five goals on 30 shots two and half weeks ago.
Goalie Start: Reimer starts for the Leafs. dailyfaceoff.com Sat 4/5/14 2:56 PM
Reimer allowed one goal on 11 shots after replacing Jonathan Bernier on Thursday. The Leafs went on to win the game in OT, giving Reimer the W. The last time Bernier was injured, Reimer struggled mightily. With the Leafs season on the brink, he will need to step-up to keep them alive. He will likely start all of Toronto's remaining games.

Two hot matches to start the day with the Philadelphia Flyers heading to Boston to take on Tuukka Rask and the Bruins. Ray Emery, for the second time in 3 games, will get the call as the Flyers look to put an end to their 3-game losing streak. Doing that against the big, bad Bruins will take a monumental effort as the B's have lost 2 in a row and will look to get back on track as well. Go with the hometown B's....
The second afternoon affair will pit the Colorado Avalanche against the St. Louis Blues. Semyon Varlamov will face Ryan Miller and try to make it 6 in a row for the Avs but will have a rough time doing so against a hot Miller who has been lights out since being acquired just before the trade deadline. The Blues are looking to hold on for the President's Trophy as they sit atop the Western Conference and are tied in points with 111 with the Boston Bruins for the league lead. The Blues make a statement...
After losing five straight games, Washington's playoff hopes are hanging by a thread. Enter today's opponent, the Metropolitan Division cellar-dweller New York Islanders, who have been relishing the role of spoiler lately, winning 5 of their last 6 games. Braden Holtby will get the start for the Capitals over Jaroslav Halak, given his recent success agsinst the Isles- 3 straight wins and a .953 SP. This will one will be closely contested, but the Caps really need to pull this one out. Holtby wins....
The New Jersey Devils have been hanging in the playoff chase with their recent 3-0-3 surge over the last 6 games, but could have their hands full with a suddenly "hot" Carolina squad. Anton Khudobin has basically wrested away the starting goalie job from veteran Cam Ward with his recent stellar play, turning aside 63 of 65 shots over his last two starts. The Hurricanes have gone 3-0-2 over the last 5, and given that Jersey might be without Patrik Elias and Adam Henrique, I am sniffing an upset win for Carolina...
After being pulled in Thursday's loss to Carolina, Dallas goalie Kari Lehtonen will be eager to return to his elite form in recent games where he has won 5 of last 7 starts with a 2.01 GAA and a .940 SP. The equally productive Ben Bishop of Tampa Bay is also coming off a uncharacteristic defeat, allowing 3 goals on 24 shots to Calgary. Both goaltenders need to rebound, but only one can prevail. Very much a "tossup" here...
With a 7-2-1 run, the Detroit Red Wings ...
