Voracek scored a goal and two assists, one of them on the power play, in Saturday's 7-4 win over the Blue Jackets.

The 30-year-old winger hasn't played for Columbus since being traded to Philly after the 2010-11 campaign, but the fire to prove the organization wrong apparently still burns bright. Voracek failed to hit the scoresheet through the first four games of this season, but he's flipped the switch since, collecting three goals and seven points in the last five contests.

Voracek scored a pair of power-play goals on seven shots and added an assist Wednesday in a 6-3 loss to Edmonton.

It was a much-needed breakout game for Voracek, who had gone without a point in each of the Flyers' first four games of the season prior to Wednesday. The seven shots on goal were also a good sign, considering Voracek had been held to a grand total of one in his previous two games. The 30-year-old has been a reliable 20-goal man in six of the last seven years so the early season skid shouldn't cause any panic.

Voracek has zero points with a minus-1 rating and seven shots on net in the first three games of the season.

EDGE Analysis

The Flyers added Kevin Hayes to their top line this season with Claude Giroux and Voracek, and the group has been slow to develop chemistry. Giroux and Hayes are also off to slow starts with one point each. Voracek has reached 20 goals and 60 points in three straight seasons; there's nothing from the first three games -- other than a sluggish start -- to suggest that streak is in serious jeopardy.

Voracek scored 20 goals and 66 points with a minus-16 rating, 210 shots on net and 25 PIM in 78 games this season.

The 29-year-old has tallied 20 goals in six of the last seven seasons, including each of the last three, but after posting a career-high 65 assists in 2017-18, it was disappointing Voracek was back under 70 points this season. He nearly had more assists last season than he had points in 2018-19. Voracek's plus-minus was one of his career worsts and he recorded his fewest PIM since 2013-14 as well.

Voracek has two goals and four points with a minus-6 rating in 10 games since returning from a two-game suspension on March 15.

The 29-year-old was hot at the end of February and beginning of March, and he also scored in his return from suspension, but since then, he only has one goal and two assists. It's a disappointing end to a underwhelming season for Voracek. For the third straight season, he has 20 goals, but he is 20 assists behind his 2017-18 pace. Maybe that should have been expected, though, because Voracek posted a career-high 65 assists last season. He's only recorded more than 50 helpers in one other season during his 11-year career. Voracek has 20 goals and 65 points with a minus-16 rating in 76 games this season.

Voracek posted four shots on goal in a 4-2 loss to the Islanders on Saturday.

EDGE Analysis

The 29-year-old still sits one score shy of recording 20 goals for the third straight season. Voracek has four goals and 13 points in the last 10 games, but most of that production came at the beginning of the month. He actually only has one point in the past four contests. Voracek has 19 goals and 63 points in 71 games this season. With only seven games remaining, he no longer has a realistic shot at a second straight 80-point campaign. Voracek will have to average a point per game down the stretch to just reach the 70-point plateau.

Voracek has fully served the two-game suspension for his hit on Johnny Boychuk in last Saturday's win over the Islanders.

EDGE Analysis

Voracek lost an appeal regarding the two-game ban, with the Flyers defeating the Senators but dropping one to the Capitals in his absence. Look for the veteran to reprise his role in the top six and No. 1 power-play unit against the Maple Leafs on Friday.

Voracek's appeal of a two-game ban was upheld by commissioner Gary Bettman on Wednesday, Stephen Whyno of the Associated Press reports.

EDGE Analysis

As a result of Bettman's decision, Voracek will miss Thursday's clash with Washington. The winger practiced with the team Wednesday in anticipation that he would be available, but instead, Samuel Morin will likely slot into the lineup as a seventh defensemen, which is how the team managed the lineup versus Ottawa on Monday.

Voracek has filled an appeal through the NHLPA of his two-game suspension, Chris Johnston of Sportsnet reports.

EDGE Analysis

Even if the league is able to expedite Voracek's appeal, it seems unlikely a ruling would be delivered in time for Monday's matchup with Ottawa. At best, the winger will hope to see his ban reduced to one game in order to allow him to suit up for Thursday's clash with Washington. Assuming Voracek can't play, the Flyers will need to either promote a player from the minors or utilize seven defesenmen.

Voracek has been suspended two games for his hit on Islanders defenseman Johnny Boychuk on Saturday.

Voracek put Boychuk into the concussion protocol when he caught the blueliner up high as Boychuk was going in for a hit of his own. The owner of 18 goals and 61 points through 66 games will sit out Monday against Ottawa and Thursday against Washington before being eligible to return Friday in Toronto.
