Oettinger allowed one goal on 28 shots in Wednesday's 2-1 overtime win over the Avalanche in Game 3.
EDGE Analysis
Oettinger gave up an early goal to Valeri Nichushkin, but he was able to shut the door for the rest of the contest. This was Oettinger's second overtime win in a row, allowing the Stars to pull ahead 2-1 in the series despite not yet having much control in the games. He's allowed eight goals on 89 shots over three games. Oettinger will likely get the nod again for Game 4 on Saturday.

Oettinger will defend the home crease in Wednesday's Game 3 against Colorado, Lia Assimakopoulos of The Dallas Morning News reports.
EDGE Analysis
After taking the loss in Game 1 of the Stars' first-round series, Oettinger was more effective during Monday's Game 2 overtime victory, turning aside 34 of 37 shots (.919 save percentage) to snap a five-game losing streak. The 26-year-old will attempt to remain effective as the Stars return home Wednesday.

Oettinger stopped 34 of 37 shots in Monday's 4-3 overtime win over the Avalanche in Game 2.
EDGE Analysis
As has happened plenty of times in the past, Oettinger came through in a game where the Stars needed him to be at his best. Even though his recent performances have left a lot to be desired, as he's now given up three or more goals in six straight outings dating back to the regular season, Oettinger at least did enough to carry the Stars to victory. This was his first win of any kind since April 3, and the Stars will continue to rely on him. The next two games of the series will be in Colorado on Wednesday and Saturday.

Oettinger was the first goalie to leave the ice ahead of Monday's Game 2, indicating he'll start in goal at home versus Colorado, Stars radio analyst Bruce LeVine reports, indicating he'll be in goal.
EDGE Analysis
Oettinger gave up four goals on 23 shots (.826 save percentage) in Game 1 on Saturday but figures to remain the No. 1 option in the crease. Still, another bad outing could lead the Stars to at least consider giving Casey DeSmith a look. During the regular season, the 26-year-old Oettinger went 36-18-4 in 58 appearances, his third straight year reaching the 35-win threshold. That consistency has likely afforded him some leeway in the playoffs.

Oettinger stopped 19 of 23 shots in Saturday's 5-1 loss to the Avalanche in Game 1. The Avalanche also scored an empty-netter.
EDGE Analysis
Oettinger couldn't break with recent trends to open the postseason. His losing streak in Game 1s is now eight, dating back to the Stars' first-round series in 2022 versus the Flames. His recent play in 2024-25 is also discouraging -- Oettinger went 0-3-1 with 17 goals allowed over his last four regular-season contest. Combined with the absences of Jason Robertson (knee) and Miro Heiskanen (knee), and the Stars have an uphill battle on their hands already, especially now that they've squandered their home-ice advantage. Still, Oettinger figures to tend the twine for Game 2 on Monday.

Oettinger will be between the home pipes versus Colorado on Saturday in Game 1 of the opening round of the playoffs, Brien Rea of FanDuel Sports Network Southwest reports.
EDGE Analysis
Oettinger enters the playoffs on a three-game losing streak, allowing 14 goals and 93 shots (.849 save percentage). He needs to turn things around against a tough Colorado team. The Avalanche ranked sixth in the NHL with 3.33 goals per game during the 2024-25 regular season.

Oettinger stopped 17 of 22 shots before he was pulled from Wednesday's 5-1 loss to the Predators.
EDGE Analysis
Oettinger probably shouldn't have been starting in the regular-season finale, but he got the nod anyway. He wasn't able to shake his recent skid, which is up to four straight losses (0-3-1), a span in which he's allowed 17 goals on 134 shots. Oettinger ends the regular season at 36-18-4, one win shy of his career high from 2022-23, and he also posted a 2.59 GAA and a .909 save percentage in 58 starts. He'll be the man between the pipes for the Stars' playoff run, which begins with Game 1 versus the Avalanche on Saturday.

Oettinger will defend the road crease against Nashville on Wednesday, Lia Assimakopoulos of The Dallas Morning News reports.
EDGE Analysis
Oettinger and Casey DeSmith have alternated starts in recent weeks as the year winds down. However, Oettinger will draw a second consecutive start to close out the regular season. Over three starts against Nashville this year, he's gone 2-1-0 with a 2.36 GAA and .922 save percentage.

Oettinger stopped 31 of 36 shots in Monday's 6-4 loss to the Red Wings, with Detroit's final goal getting scored into an empty net.
EDGE Analysis
The Stars took a 3-2 lead into the third period, but another late fade handed the team its sixth straight loss as Dallas limps toward the postseason. Oettinger has three of those decisions on his ledger, giving up 12 goals on 112 shots in that time while going 0-2-1. The 26-year-old netminder remains stuck on 36 wins, one short of his career high.

However, he was successful at home against the Red Wings on Jan. 19, turning aside 33 of 34 shots (.971 save percentage) en route to a 4-1 victory.
