Jake Muzzin found the back of the net in the Kings' 2-1 win over Montreal on Monday.
Muzzin is more of a defensive defenseman and consequently his fantasy value is limited in standard leagues. He has five goals and 19 points in 58 contests this season.

Kings coach Darryl Sutter said he'd like to see defenseman Jake Muzzin step up so 36-year-old Willie Mitchell and 33-year-old Robyn Regehr can play fewer minutes and be more effective.
"With Robyn and Willie, they give you everything they got, but they're not kids. And with our schedule, when you're pushing those guys into the lows 20s, it affects their game and affects their performance and back to back nights..I'm not being critical of Muzz, but we need Muzz to be a good player for us. It's really clear." Muzzin, 24, scored the Kings' first goal in a 4-1 victory Thursday over St. Louis - his first point in 15 games - but was responsible for the Blues' equalizer after his shot on goal was blocked and turned into a breakaway for T.J. Oshie. Muzzin impeded Oshie, who was awarded a penalty shot and scored.

Jake Muzzin is seeing plenty of time on the first defensive unit alongside Drew Doughty.
Doughty played with Robyn Rehegr last season but of late has been paired up with Muzzin. While the duo play a similar type game as both are offensive defenseman, coach Darryl Sutter is happy with the pairing at this time. "Evaluate it every game," Sutter said. "Quite honest, when we went into Anaheim the other day, the last time Jake played in Anaheim he was (poor), so don't think I didn't talk to him about it. Because you're evaluated at the end of every game. Because at the end of the day ... we're not that far from Jake Muzzin being a healthy scratch. Not that far removed. He's a young guy and we're looking for consistency." Muzzin has a goal and 11 points in 24 games with 22 penalty minutes. He is a 3-4 defenseman in deep pools.

Jake Muzzin has collected five assists and a plus-1 rating in his last six games.
He still has some lapses in the defensive zone, but he's been picking up points of late and has looked better since being reunited with Drew Doughty on Los Angeles' back end. Muzzin appears to building back up his confidence after being scratched for five straight games last month.

Jake Muzzin had two assists Saturday after missing five straight games as a healthy scratch.
Well, this ought to keep him in the lineup as he had three hits, a blocked shot and a minor as well as his points in 14:46 minutes of action. Muzzin now has a goal and four points in four games. He is worth picking up again if someone dropped him in your deeper pool.

Jacob Muzzin was a healthy scratch for the third straight game on Sunday.
It is a real letdown for Muzzin owners who came into the season full of hope after his excellent rookie season in which the defenseman had seven goals and 16 points in 45 games. But he was turning the puck over too much in the early going and coach Darryl Sutter thought he was struggling too much and has kept him in the press box. Be patient with Muzzin as he is very good offensively but he does have Drew Doughty and Slava Voynov ahead of him on the depth chart when it comes to power play time.

Kings coach Darryl Sutter feels Jacob Muzzin is "struggling a lot."
Muzzin scored the lone Kings goal during Monday's 3-1 loss to the New York Rangers, but he also played a role in a key turnover. "Muzzin [is] going to have to learn not to turn the puck over if he wants to play, period," Sutter said. The coach also suggested that he probably should have made Muzzin a healthy scratch at the start of the season so that the young defenseman would have had more time to get back into game shape after suffering a knee injury during training camp. That being said, Sutter isn't committing to scratching Muzzin now.
