McCabe will miss the rest of the preseason due to an upper-body injury, but he's expected to be ready for Buffalo's Oct. 3 regular-season opener against Pittsburgh.
EDGE Analysis
The Sabres are likely just being cautious with McCabe, who's firmly entrenched as a bottom-four defender for the team heading into 2019-20. The 25-year-old hasn't scored more than 20 points in a single season since becoming a full-time NHLer in 2015-16, and won't be a viable fantasy option in most formats this year.

McCabe and the Sabres agreed to a two-year deal Saturday with an average annual value of $2.85 million one day before the defenseman was set to go to arbitration, Lance Lysowski of The Buffalo News reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Sabres have a boatload of defensemen, but McCabe has been one of the steadier of the bunch the last few seasons, outside of some injury troubles the past two campaigns. The 2012 second-rounder won't have much trouble landing a top-four spot on the blue line, but his lack of power-play time and goal-scoring prowess caps his potential productivity. A high of 20-25 points seems to be the most you can expect in a season, though he's a well-rounded guy that can easily hit triple digits in both hits and blocks.

McCabe filed for salary arbitration Friday.
EDGE Analysis
McCabe had a large role on the blue line last season, averaging just under 19 minutes of ice time over 59 games. The Sabres extended a $1.775 million qualifying offer to the 25-year-old, but he seemingly would like something different. Considering the role McCabe had with the club last season, it would be easy to see both parties reaching an agreement before the arbitration hearings.

McCabe earned a qualifying offer from the Sabres on Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
McCabe was a key player on the blue line last season for the Sabres, averaging just under 19 minutes of ice time in 59 games. He wasn't much of a fantasy asset, however, collecting just 14 points in that span, and rarely seeing power-play time. If McCabe accepts the offer, his deal will be worth $1.775 million next season, but it's hard envisioning production at a fantasy-relevant level.

McCabe (undisclosed) will return to the lineup for Sunday's game against Columbus, Paul Hamilton of WGR Sports Radio 550 reports.
EDGE Analysis
McCabe was injured in the March 2 contest against Toronto and missed the following 13 games with his mysterious injury. With just 14 points in 55 games, he doesn't have much fantasy value as the regular season winds down.

McCabe (undisclosed) isn't ready to play, though he did skate Saturday ahead of a road game against the Islanders, Mike Harrington of The Buffalo News reports.
EDGE Analysis
McCabe will miss a 13th consecutive game. His long layoff has opened up more playing time for the likes of Matt Tennyson, Marco Scandella and Casey Nelson -- to name a few.

McCabe (undisclosed) is still considered day-to-day, but he will join the team on the road against the Islanders on Saturday, Bill Hoppe of the Olean Times Herald reports.
EDGE Analysis
Coach Phil Housley didn't rule McCabe out versus New York, so there is still a chance he is cleared ahead of Saturday's tilt. If the Wisconsin native does slot back into the lineup, it will likely be at the expense of youngster Will Borgen. McCabe is bogged down in a 13-game pointless streak, and he went without a goal in 18 straight contests leading up to the injury.

McCabe (undisclosed) is considered day-to-day, but won't return to the lineup versus the Red Wings on Thursday.
EDGE Analysis
McCabe has only five more chances to slot back into the lineup before the end of the 2018-19 campaign, but appears to be trending in the right direction. The blueliner was on pace to reach the 20-point mark prior to getting hurt and should be able to achieve that level of production next year if he can stay out of the infirmary.

McCabe will be out five-to-six weeks with an upper-body injury.
EDGE Analysis
It looks like the injury that knocked McCabe out of Saturday's game against Toronto is a significant one. The blueliner has tied his career high with four goals this season, but his 14 points in 55 games had McCabe off most fantasy radars even before this setback.

McCabe left Saturday's game against the Maple Leafs with an injury and did not return, Mike Harrington of TBN Sports reports.
EDGE Analysis
McCabe was involved in a scrum late in the second and then did not join the team for the start of the third period. The Sabres are hosting the Oilers on Monday, so the defenseman won't have long to get healthy. If McCabe can't play, Matt Hunwick could be in the lineup.
