McCabe scored a goal, dished two hits and went plus-2 in Thursday's 4-3 loss to the Flames.
EDGE Analysis
McCabe converted on a pass from Victor Olofsson late in the third period, and Jack Eichel scored 1:56 later to bring the Sabres within a goal. The comeback went incomplete, but McCabe now has seven points and 34 shots on goal in 28 appearances. He's added 46 hits and 48 blocked shots in his role as a defensively-focused blueliner.

McCabe (undisclosed) skated with Zach Bogosian on Buffalo's top pairing during Wednesday's morning skate, Lance Lysowski of The Buffalo News reports.
EDGE Analysis
McCabe's full participation at practice puts him on track to return to the lineup for Wednesday's clash with Calgary. The 26-year-old is a capable stay-at-home defender for the Sabres, but his lack of offensive upside keeps him off the radar in most fantasy formats.

McCabe (undisclosed) will not be in the lineup for Monday's game in Tampa Bay, Lance Lysowski of The Buffalo News reports.
EDGE Analysis
McCabe will miss his first game of the season. He's stuck in a seven-game scoreless streak with a minus-3 rating during that span.

McCabe continues to log minutes on Buffalo's top pairing.
EDGE Analysis
McCabe is logging 20:43 of ice time per game -- an increase of 1:46 from last year. While he's not providing heavy offense, the increase in ice time makes him more valuable in leagues that count hits and blocks, where he has 37 and 39, respectively. With just one goal and four assists in 21 games, leagues that count only points should look elsewhere.

McCabe scored a goal and added two hits and two blocked shots in Friday's 2-0 win over the Red Wings.
EDGE Analysis
The defenseman didn't play in the last 10 minutes of the first period, but came back with a vengeance by scoring the opening goal at 11:40 of the second. The tally was his first goal and fourth point in 12 games this season. McCabe has also added 28 hits and 32 blocks while skating over 21 minutes a night. He's a bit more defensive in nature, but he's getting top-pairing usage that should lead to an increase in offense for the second-round pick from 2012.

McCabe notched an assist and added three blocked shots in Saturday's 4-3 win over the Sharks.
EDGE Analysis
The 26-year-old defenseman had a hand in Jeff Skinner's third-period goal. McCabe isn't well known for offense, with a career-high 20 points coming in 2016-17. However, McCabbe does have 20 hits and 27 blocked shots in nine appearances this season, and he's skating on the top pairing for the Sabres, so a little offense is bound to come his way.

As expected, McCabe (upper body) will draw into the lineup for Thursday's regular-season opener against the Penguins.
EDGE Analysis
McCabe is expected to skate with Rasmus Ristolainen on Buffalo's second pairing against Pittsburgh. The 25-year-old American will be a solid bottom-four option and a valuable member of the Sabres' penalty-killing unit this season, but he's only totaled 26 points in 112 games over the past two campaigns, so he can be disregarded in the vast majority of fantasy formats.

McCabe will miss the rest of the preseason due to an upper-body injury, but he's expected to be ready for Buffalo's Oct. 3 regular-season opener against Pittsburgh.
EDGE Analysis
The Sabres are likely just being cautious with McCabe, who's firmly entrenched as a bottom-four defender for the team heading into 2019-20. The 25-year-old hasn't scored more than 20 points in a single season since becoming a full-time NHLer in 2015-16, and won't be a viable fantasy option in most formats this year.

McCabe and the Sabres agreed to a two-year deal Saturday with an average annual value of $2.85 million one day before the defenseman was set to go to arbitration, Lance Lysowski of The Buffalo News reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Sabres have a boatload of defensemen, but McCabe has been one of the steadier of the bunch the last few seasons, outside of some injury troubles the past two campaigns. The 2012 second-rounder won't have much trouble landing a top-four spot on the blue line, but his lack of power-play time and goal-scoring prowess caps his potential productivity. A high of 20-25 points seems to be the most you can expect in a season, though he's a well-rounded guy that can easily hit triple digits in both hits and blocks.

McCabe filed for salary arbitration Friday.
EDGE Analysis
McCabe had a large role on the blue line last season, averaging just under 19 minutes of ice time over 59 games. The Sabres extended a $1.775 million qualifying offer to the 25-year-old, but he seemingly would like something different. Considering the role McCabe had with the club last season, it would be easy to see both parties reaching an agreement before the arbitration hearings.
