Philadelphia Flyers right wing Jakub Voracek signed an eight-year, $66 million contract extension Thursday, according to the Philadelphia Daily News. Voracek set career-highs with 59 assists and a team-leading 81 points last season. He was due to make roughly $4.3 million in the final season of his contract, but will now become one of the highest-paid players in the league. The 25-year-old has played every game over the last two seasons and has become a fixture on the team's top line in addition to a key member of the power-play unit. Voracek forms a very productive tandem with linemate Claude Giroux, who totaled 73 points last season and signed an eight-year extension of his own in 2013. The Flyers are coming off a disappointing 2014-15 season in which they reached just 84 points and finished 12th in the Eastern Conference standings.
