Coach Peter Laviolette says he will try to reduce Weber's on-ice minutes this season, Adam Vingan of The Tennessean reports.
EDGE Analysis
Over the past few seasons, the Preds have done a good job of surrounding the 30-year-old Weber with younger guys like Seth Jones, Mattias Ekholm and Ryan Ellis - players who, according to Laviolette, "don't get the minutes or the situational play that they should." Weber skated an average of 26:22 per game last season - the second highest ice time of his career - so look for that number to decline somewhat this season as the Preds' coaching staff look to distribute the team's blue line minutes a little more evenly. We still consider Weber an elite blue line option for fantasy purposes, but if he's not playing as many minutes as he normally does, he could be under pressure to post the same kind of 45-50 point production we are used to seeing from him.
