It was a fantastic individual effort by the Avalanche captain, who picked off the pass and beat two Blackhawks around the net before scoring. Landeskog is three goals away from 20 with three games remaining, and it'll be just the second time in six seasons he has failed to hit that mark. He's been a disappointment this season, but he's still very young with plenty of room to improve. He should still be a valuable fantasy contributor next season, because surely the Avalanche can't be this bad again.

The 24-year-old Swede hadn't found the back of the net in 12 games prior to Sunday, which is a drought that's contributed to a somewhat disappointing 16 goals this year. Landeskog's 30 points and minus-22 rating are by far the worst marks of his six-year career -- something that's due in large part to the struggles of the Avs as a whole this season -- so look for the captain to bounce back when he gets a clean slate to work with next fall.

Landeskog got Colorado's only goal in a 6-1 loss to Winnipeg on Saturday night. The goal broke the shutout bid with just 16 seconds left in the game.

Landeskog's season has been largely forgettable -- he has just 27 points in 53 games and is in serious peril of missing the 50-point mark. He's been a perennial 20-goal, 50-point guy (other than the lockout year), so this year's output has soured him to most fantasy owners.

The captain is very talented, but don't expect a surge down the stretch given the team's position in the standings.

He has had a very trying campaign, as is evidenced by the fact his current run of four games with a point signifies a season high. Landeskog has the skill set to run off much lengthier streaks.

Landeskog failed to light the lamp on any of his first seven attempts, but finally ended Matt Murray's shutout bid with 3:16 to play on his final shot. The 24-year-old Swede has been held to a measly 21 points in 41 games played, but he's showing signs of life with four points in his past three outings. Racking up a new season high in shots on goal is yet another step in the right direction.

Landeskog has had a difficult time this season, posting just nine goals and 20 points with a disappointing minus-13 rating. Lately he has shown a little sign of life, picking up four assists over the past five outings. He will need to go on a major points binge over the rest of the season to reach his career averages, however.

EDGE Analysis

It's been a dreadful campaign for Landeskog, and the 24-year-old winger isn't a must-own player in most seasonal leagues. There is potential for him to heat up offensively, and he's still providing decent peripheral statistics (40 PIM and 82 hits) while logging huge minutes (19:04 with 2:32 on the power play), but expectations should be kept in check for the remainder of this season. However, this also could be a buy-low time in keeper/dynasty settings.
