Gabriel Bourque has been one of the more pleasant surprises so far in the 2012 NHL playoffs. Bourque has three goals in four playoff games. "He's been awesome for us," teammate David Legwand said. "He plays the game the right way, hard and straightforward. That's what you need in the playoffs." This is the first time Bourque has participated in the NHL postseason, but he previously won the Guy Lafleur Trophy as the MVP of the QMJHL playoffs. He also had seven points in a single World Junior Championship contest in 2010, which was good enough to tie a Canadian record.

Gabriel Bourque scored his third goal of the playoffs Tuesday night as Nashville outlasted Detroit to take a 3-1 series lead. After proving he belongs in the NHL with his play late in the regular season, Bourque has carried it forward into the postseason and certainly doesn't look out of place. Jordin Tootoo and Nick Spaling registered assists on the marker. Before you get all worked up about Bourque, bear in mind that his AHL high in scoring is 36 points in 78 games.

Gabriel Bourque was brought up from the minors on Tuesday. With Blake Geoffrion demoted on Wednesday, the table is set for Bourque to make his NHL debut against Minnesota. He has recorded two goals and 14 assists in 25 games in the AHL with Milwaukee this year.
