Evgeni Nabokov called Thursday's 2-1 overtime loss the "toughest one this year."
The Islanders clinged to a one-goal lead from the middle of the first period until later in the third, but ultimately couldn't find that second goal to really put the game in their favor. "It's probably the toughest one this year," said Nabokov, who had 35 saves. "We had the game in our hands. That's exactly how the playoffs are. It was a great atmosphere; I wish we could have that atmosphere every night here."

Evgeni Nabokov was the victim of bad luck Thursday and found himself on the wrong end of a 2-1 decision against the Rangers.
The Islanders netminder managed to stop 35 of 37 shots in the losing effort, but he was working on a shutout until the Rangers scored a goal with a little over five minutes to play in the game. Nabokov was then victimized again early in overtime after the Rangers found themselves with a 4-3 power play. It was an unfortunate result considering how well he played in this contest.

It looks like Evgeni Nabokov will be the starting goalie against the Montreal Canadiens on Tuesday night.
Although his overall numbers are disappointing, Nabokov has been much better of late. That said, the Habs aren't exactly an easy team to play these days and that could mean trouble for the Isles.

Evgeni Nabokov was instrumental in the New York Islanders' 3-2 shootout win against the New York Islanders on Sunday.
Nabokov stopped 29 out of 31 shots, improving his 2013 record to 9-7-2. While his stats aren't eye-popping, the Russian netminder has been a decent depth starter for fantasy purposes, which is likely more than most expected. He could also be an interesting trade deadline target if the Isles go in sell mode.

Neither goaltender was particularly sharp in this contest, but Nabokov was the weaker of the two goaltenders and suffered a loss as a result. The Isles start sports an 8-8-1 record with a save percentage in the vicinity of .900, making him a mediocre fantasy option.

Evgeni Nabokov kicked out 30 of 33 shots Thursday as the Islanders defeated Montreal in overtime by a score of 4-3.
Nabokov hasn't exactly been sharp this season, as his GAA and save percentage will show, but his 7-6-1 record, including wins in three of his last four games have kept him from being devoid of value in fantasy leagues.
