Fitzpatrick stopped all 28 shots he faced to help lead QMJHL Acadie-Bathurst to a 3-0 win over WHL Regina in the 2018 Memorial Cup Championship on Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
After having shockingly little work over the course of the first two periods, Fitzpatrick turned aside 17 shots he faced in the final frame to help lead the Titan to victory. A perennial underachiever throughout the early part of his QMJHL career, Fitzpatrick got a new lease on life following his trade to Acadie-Bathurst in early January. Always long on potential and short on performance, the Blues are hoping this strong playoff run will help turn Fitzpatrick's career around. The 20-year-old goalkeeper should open next season with St. Louis's AHL affiliate in San Antonio.

The Acadie-Bathurst Titan won a QMJHL Championship with Fitzpatrick in net.
EDGE Analysis
The Blues 2016 second-round pick (56th overall) started every playoff game and posted a 16-4 record while accruing an outstanding .925 save percentage, 2.10 GAA and two shutouts. This is the last year of Fitzpatrick's junior eligibility, but he'll have a few more games when Acadie-Bathurst fights for the Memorial Cup -- a trophy awarded to the top team out of the OHL, QMJHL and WHL -- later in May. It's no secret that the Blues struggled in the crease during 2017-18, and Fitzpatrick slumped in the beginning of this season as well, posting a .874 save percentage for Sherbrooke Phoenix before being traded. Therefore, Fitzpatrick will play with AHL San Antonio next season and battle for starts behind two-year veteran Ville Husso.

Fitzpatrick has agreed to terms on a three-year entry level contract with the Blues.
EDGE Analysis
The 19-year-old netminder has spent each of the last three campaigns in junior hockey, posting numbers that don't pop off the stat sheet. So far this season, Fitzpatrick owns just a .899 save percentage and 3.46 GAA with the Sherbrooke Phoenix of the QMJHL, but should receive more advanced tutelage at the AHL level of play. A second-round pick in 2016, it's still too early to count on Fitzpatrick anytime soon, especially with 26-year-old Jake Allen manning the crease for the Blues on a nightly basis.
