Karlsson provided an assist and two blocked shots in Sunday's 3-1 win over the Flames.
EDGE Analysis
The defenseman made an outlet pass to Kevin Labanc, who worked a give-and-go with Tomas Hertl in the first period for the Sharks' second goal of the game. Karlsson has three assists and a minus-7 rating through five games this year.

Karlsson provided an assist and four shots on goal in Saturday's 3-1 loss to the Ducks.
EDGE Analysis
Playing in the second game after the birth of his child, Karlsson picked up his first point of the year with the primary helper on Logan Couture's goal. It'll help to wash out the bad taste from his minus-4 performance Friday versus the Golden Knights. A six-time 60-point producer, the blueliner will be trying to return to that mark this year after managing 45 points (three goals, 42 helpers) in 53 games, the product of shooting 1.8 percent last year.

Karlsson (personal) will make his season debut Friday against Vegas, Brodie Brazil of NBC Sports California reports.
EDGE Analysis
Karlsson missed Wednesday's Opening Night matchup with the Golden Knights to be present for the birth of his child, so he'll have extra motivation to put up a special performance Friday. The 29-year-old Swede will slot into a top-four role and a spot on San Jose's first power-play unit against Vegas.

Karlsson will miss Opening Night on Wednesday against the Golden Knights to tend to a personal matter.
EDGE Analysis
The team didn't disclose anything more information, so it's unclear if Karlsson could miss any time beyond Wednesday's opener. Look for Tim Heed to draw into the defensive pairings in Karlsson's absence, and Heed could also be a candidate to see time on the power play after averaging more than a minute per game with the man advantage in his 37 appearances last season.

Karlsson (groin) fired four shots on goal while logging 21:50 of ice time in Thursday's 4-1 win over the Flames.
EDGE Analysis
The Sharks have been cautious with Karlsson this preseason, but the fact that he registered just under 22 minutes of ice time Thursday all but confirms that he's fully recovered from his offseason groin surgery. The 29-year-old Swede should be one of the first two blueliners selected in fantasy drafts this year.

According to coach Peter DeBoer, Karlsson (groin) won't play Saturday against Vegas, but should get into a few games towards the end of the team's preseason schedule, Kevin Kurz of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Sharks will only have three preseason games left on their schedule following Saturday's contest, so time is running out for Karlsson to get into an exhibition match. Nonetheless, all signs point to the Swedish blueliner being ready for San Jose's regular-season opener against the Golden Knights on Oct. 2.

Karlsson (groin) signed an eight-year, $92 million contract extension with the Sharks on Monday, Pierre LeBrun of TSN reports.
EDGE Analysis
Karlsson was going to be one of the most highly sought after free agents had he hit the open market July 1, but he evidently has enjoyed his time in San Jose enough to want to commit to the Sharks long term. The fact that it was the only club that could offer him an eight-year deal probably didn't hurt, either. The Swedish defenseman was hampered by injuries for much of the 2018-19 campaign, but he was still able to produce at an elite pace when available, racking up three goals and 45 points in 53 regular-season appearances before adding two goals and 16 points in 19 playoff games. The 29-year-old recently underwent surgery to address the groin injury he was playing through toward the end of the campaign, but he's expected to be back to 100 percent in time for training camp, and should be one of the first blueliners selected in this year's fantasy drafts.

Karlsson (groin) is reportedly closing in on a contract extension with San Jose, per Bob McKenzie of TSN.
EDGE Analysis
Karlsson was hampered by injuries at the end of the regular season and into the playoffs, which limited his productivity. The veteran blueliner will likely command a contract similar to the eight-year, $88 million deal signed by Los Angeles' Drew Doughty in July of 2018. Assuming Karlsson can get back to 100 percent, he should be capable of getting back over the 60-point mark and could even push for 70.

Karlsson underwent successful surgery Friday to address the groin injury he suffered during the 2018-19 campaign.
EDGE Analysis
Karlsson was never fully healthy this season, but he was still a force to be reckoned with while playing at less than 100 percent, racking up three goals and 45 points in 53 regular-season appearances before adding two goals and 16 points in 19 playoff games. The 29-year-old Swede is expected to recover fully and should be ready for the start of the 2019-20 campaign, which will undoubtedly help his case during negotiations as one of this offseason's top unrestricted free agents.

Karlsson isn't sure if his groin injury will require surgery yet, Curtis Pashelka of The San Jose Mercury News reports.
EDGE Analysis
Karlsson, a pending unrestricted free agent, missed 29 games during the regular season due to injury, and he clearly wasn't playing at 100 percent during the Sharks' playoff run. Nonetheless, the Swedish blueliner was able to rack up two goals and 16 points in 19 games this postseason, exhibiting just how deadly he can be even when hobbled. Karlsson will be one of the most highly sought after free agents this offseason, but his health will undoubtedly play a huge role in teams' willingness to sign him to a long-term deal.
