It was Kallgren's best game in the NHL. He made several strong saves and was only beaten on a Joel Edmundson one-timer from the slot and a perfect Cole Caufield shot high over his blocker. Kallgren's home-road splits are extreme -- he's now 4-0-1 with a 1.78 GAA and .939 save percentage at home, but 1-2-0 with a 4.11 GAA and .859 save percentage on the road. He's worthy of an activation when he's at home.

Kallgren will patrol the crease during Saturday's home game versus the Canadiens, Sportsnet's Luke Fox reports.

Kallgren wasn't great in his last appearance Tuesday versus Florida, surrendering three goals on 23 shots before taking a puck to the mask and subsequently being replaced by Jack Campbell for the remainder of the eventual 7-6 loss. He'll try to return to the win column in a favorable home matchup with a Montreal team that's 10-20-7 on the road this year.

Kallgren (upper body) was given the all-clear by head coach Sheldon Keefe after Tuesday's 7-6 overtime loss to the Panthers, Joshua Kloke of The Athletic Toronto reports.

The 25-year-old rookie is 4-2-1 with a .906 save percentage through seven career NHL games, but he's coughed up 14 goals over his last four appearances. Tuesday's matchup against the league's best offense will be his toughest test to date.

Kallgren made 20 saves in a 7-3 win over the Jets on Thursday.

Blake Wheeler opened the scoring when he got past Mark Giordano in the slot at the 3:19 mark of the first. Paul Stastny pushed the score to 2-0 about four minutes later when he stuffed in a wraparound by Kallgren's left pad as the netminder was looking right.Nikolaj Ehlers wired a shot from the right face-off dot on an early second power play to push the Jets up 3-2, but that was all the Jets could get. With Petr Mrazek (lower body) out for six weeks, Kallgren will get plenty of game action as the team's number two guy behind Jack Campbell.

Kallgren is coming off a 23-save relief performance against the Bruins on Tuesday after Petr Mrazek (groin) was forced off due to injury. With Jack Campbell (hip) expected back soon, the 25-year-old Kallgren figures to be relegated to the backup role but will need to fill it after Mrazek was ruled out for the next six weeks. Still, the bulk of the workload figures to go to Campbell which will limit Kallgren's value outside of the occasional start.

It wound up being another shaky performance for Kallgren, as he came close to handing back a 6-1 lead, but he still got credit for the win. The ice was tilted hard at Jake Allen at the other end and the shots showed it -- 51-17. It was a hard game for Kallgren to stay sharp. He had almost no chance on a perfect cross-ice pass to David Savard that just he couldn't get reach on the Habs' first score. Cole Caufield beat him on the power play to push the score to 2-1 and Paul Byron broke in hard on the right wing, faked a pass and then fired it through Kallgren for the go-ahead goal.

Since stepping in for the injured Jack Campbell (ribs), the 25-year-old Kallgren has outplayed Petr Mrazek to the point the club actually put Mrazek on waivers. Still, once Campbell is cleared to play, Kallgren will be bumped to at least a spot on the bench if not returned to the minors.
