Staal registered an assist on Mikael Granlund's goal in a 2-1 loss Tuesday against Buffalo.
EDGE Analysis
The assist now gives Staal a goal and four assists in his past five games, and eight points in 10 games overall this season. He never quite settled in with the Rangers after a late-season trade, and getting the chance to go through training camp with the Wild has obviously helped. Though his 15.4 shooting percentage is well above his career average, Staal has been very productive with his new team. This could be a resurgent season for the former Carolina captain who scored just just 39 points last year, the third consecutive season that saw his point totals dip. He's worth stashing in deep leagues, especially with the amount of power-play time he's been given and Bruce Boudreau's unmatched skill in unlocking offensive potential.

Staal contributed an assist in Thursday night's 4-0 win over the Sabres.
EDGE Analysis
Staal dished to Mikko Koivu for an empty-net score, making up for his lackluster effort in the faceoff circle. The prolific veteran won only 27 percent of his draws in this one. Staal is up to six points in eight games on the young season.

Staal scored two goals -- including the game-winner in the third period -- on five shots and went plus-2 against the Leafs on Thursday.
EDGE Analysis
He also won 13 of 17 faceoffs, rounding out a brilliant night. Staal's still looking for his first assist, but he has three goals in four games to start the year. The ice time's certainly there, though fantasy owners should still be a bit wary of the oldest Staal brother after he slumped his way to only 39 points between the Hurricanes and Rangers last season.

Staal scored his first goal with the Wild in Saturday's win over Winnipeg.
EDGE Analysis
Staal has three shots on goal in each of his first two games with the Wild and is getting plenty of ice time (19:13) with the top line. He'll get every opportunity to have a bounceback season after a disappointing season with the Hurricanes and Rangers last year.

Staal scored a goal in Sunday's preseason win over Calgary. It was his first appearance as the center on a line with Zach Parise and Charlie Coyle, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
If one game is evidence, Staal could be set for a bounce-back season thanks to his spot on Minnesota's top line.

Staal has signed a three-year, $10.5 million deal with the Wild, reports TSN.ca.
EDGE Analysis
Staal is coming off a low season that saw him produce just 13 goals and 39 points in 83 games. That included six points in 20 games with the Rangers after a deadline deal. He's 31 years old and his best days are behind him. But in the right role, Staal can still be a middle-six foward and that's likely where the Wild will deploy him. Mikko Koivu remains the top pivot and Charlie Coyle is the team's rising number two.

Staal, a pending unrestricted free agent, is attracting interest from the Wild, the Star Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
Staal's camp has been talking with the Wild ahead of the free-agent signing period opening July 1. "There's mutual interest and consideration that there is a fit with Minnesota," said Staal's agent Rick Curran. "We've had conversation and I would also suggest Eric was extremely impressed." As a four-time NHL All-Star who's won a Stanley Cup (2006), there's bound to be even more teams interested in Staal on the open market, but he is 31 years old and past his prime. He was traded to the Rangers last February after spending more than 11 seasons with the Hurricanes, but struggled to adjust in New York and only ended up with six points in 20 regular-season games -- he also went pointless with a minus-7 rating in the postseason. Staal's asking price is sure to come down after finishing out a seven-year deal with an annual average value of $8.25 million.

Staal, who was brought to the Rangers to add offence, finished the postseason with no points and a minus-7 rating. He managed just seven shots in the five games against the Penguins and went without a shot in two of those games.
EDGE Analysis
Staal was a massive disappointment on Broadway, delivering just six points (three goals, three assists) in 20 regualr-season games after the trade. The 32-year-old center is a free agent this offseason and is probably hoping to land a tasty deal in a new city. But Staal's declining offence since the lockout (61, 54 and 39 points) make him a potential high-priced anchor on any squad.

Despite skating to a minus-3 in a 5-2 Game 1 loss to Pittsburgh on Wednesday, Staal went 9-for-10 in the faceoff dot. It was his first playoff game with the Rangers.
EDGE Analysis
While there won't be many fantasy playoff formats out there that count faceoffs, the fact that the eldest Staal was so proficient at the dot bodes well for his chances to move up the Rangers' depth chart. Currently, he's out of the top six and top power-play unit, but if the former Hurricane -- who happens to have 43 points in 44 career playoff games -- continues to dominate on draws, look for him to be rewarded by head coach Alain Vigneault with a more favorable lineup assignment. For comparison's sake, fellow centers Derek Stepan went 9-for-20 and Derick Brassard won seven of 15 in the contest.

Staal -- who left Saturday's game as a precaution -- practiced Monday, Andrew Gross of The Record reports.
EDGE Analysis
Staal said afterward that he's fine, while confirming his status for Game 1 of the Rangers' upcoming playoff series against the Penguins. "I'm not worried about it," Staal said Monday. "I'm excited for Wednesday."
