Comrie defeated the Blue Jackets by a 5-4 tally in his NHL debut Thursday, stopping 35 of 39 shots.

It's not easy to come into Columbus and face 39 pucks from one of the league's better offenses, but the Jets have been hot and Comrie was the beneficiary. However, the Jets will probably turn the net back over to Connor Hellebuyck and Michael Hutchinson in their remaining games. Comrie has posted just a .906 save percentage in the AHL this year -- a near twin of last year's .907 -- but he's also just 21 years old with second-round pedigree. There's some appeal here in deep dynasty formats.

Comrie will make his first NHL start against the Blue Jackets on Thursday.

Clearly the Jets are in full evaluation mood as they take a look at Comrie between the pipes. It certainly won't be an easy debut for the 21-year-old as he squares off against a Columbus squad that is averaging 3.01 goals and 31.0 shots per game this season. Heading into 2017-18, Ondrej Pavelec (knee) is expected to be playing elsewhere, which opens the door for Comrie to compete with Connor Hellebuyck and Michael Hutchinson for time in the crease next year.

Comrie was called up from AHL Manitoba on Wednesday.

Comrie is coming off a 35-save performance with the Moose on Tuesday and will now join the team in Columbus. Either the 21-year-old is in line to make his NHL debut against the Blue Jackets or there is an as yet undisclosed injury to one of the Jets other netminders as it would seem strange to call-up Comrie only to have him watch from the bench.

Comrie will man the crease against the Flames on Tuesday, Ken Wiebe of the WInnipeg Sun reports.

Comrie is likely in camp just for the experience as Connor Hellebuyck and Micheal Hutchinson are the two netminders that can be expected to battle it out for the back-up role. Comrie can be expected to return to AHL Manitoba where he played in 46 games but registered a disappointing 3.12 GAA. The 21-year-old needs some more time to mature and improve his game, limiting his fantasy value even in dynasty or keeper leagues.

The Winnipeg Jets have signed Eric Comrie. Comrie was taken in the second round of the 2013 NHL Entry Draft. He has a 2.52 GAA and .923 save percentage in 30 WHL games this season. His brothers have also pursued careers in hockey, including his half-brother Mike Comrie, who enjoyed a 589-game career.
