Hayes was recalled from AHL Worchester on Saturday, Kevin Kurz of CSNBayArea.com reports. It looks like Hayes will join the lineup right away for the Sharks, occupying a spot on the fourth line with Andrew Desjardins and Adam Burish. The addition of Hayes, who was previously waived by the Sharks shortly after the start of the season, should give the team a little more speed on the checking line in lieu of John Scott.

Hayes was placed on waivers by the Sharks on Friday, Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports reports. Hayes' removal from the 23-man roster would seem to clear the way for Bradley Goodrow (hand) to return from the team's non-roster injury list. The 26-year-old Hayes tallied one goal in 15 games for the Sharks last season.

Hayes made it through a final round of cuts and will stick with the Sharks to open the season, according to Fear the Fin. Hayes is the only one of the three rookies who made the opening night roster who has prior NHL experience, but it appears that he'll be on the outside looking in as he'll likely be a healthy scratch on Wednesday. With Hayes potential and age, don't expect that treatment to last. The team will either start playing him or send him to the AHL. Being benched won't do anything for his development.

Eriah Hayes scored a goal in San Jose's 4-1 loss to Calgary Thursday night. Hayes' first NHL goal 36 seconds into the third period avoided a third consecutive shutout and ended San Jose's scoring drought at 160:36, but it wasn't enough to keep the Sharks from losing their third in a row in a four-day span. Tommy Wingels and Patrick Marleau assisted the lone goal.

The San Jose Sharks will call up Eriah Hayes. Hayes will attempt to join the team in Colorado as soon as possible, given that they're scheduled to play against the Avalanche on Saturday. However, East Coast weather problems could throw a wrench in those plans.
