This time, the result for his team was the same, but he ended up a plus-1 and stepped up for his owners. Unfortunately, Keith's value is likely to be low until the trade deadline, when the Blackhawks could ship Keith out to start their rebuild and give him a much greater opportunity to produce.

Keith took exception to a hit by Miikka Salomaki, starting a fracas in which Keith accrued penalties for roughing, instigating, fighting, a misconduct and a game misconduct. The veteran blueliner's team was saddled with a seven-minute penalty kill as a result, but at least Keith's owners in leagues that count PIM got a major boost in the category, as he racked up 27.

The end result of Tuesday's contest makes Keith's minus-3 rating a little more understandable, but the veteran blueliner has been struggling for a while, notching just two assists while registering a minus-5 rating in his last 13 contests. The two-time Norris Trophy winner still has a prominent role on Chicago's top power-play unit, but the team is simply a mess as a whole at the moment, which has led to less offensive opportunities for Keith. The 35-year-old's owners will simply have to hope Keith, and the Blackhawks, can start turning things around in the month of December.

Keith received a five-minute major and game misconduct for boarding Dillon Dube 2:14 into Saturday's game against the Flames.

In addition to being faced with a five-minute penalty kill, Chicago will have to play almost the entire contest without its top defenseman. There's also a possibility that Keith faces additional discipline from the Department of Player Safety, as supplemental punishment is always on the table after a game misconduct.

Keith failed to exceed the 40-point mark for the first time since the shortened 2012-13 campaign this season, totaling just two goals and 32 points in 82 contests.

EDGE Analysis

It was a disappointing year for the Blackhawks offense as a whole, but Keith's drop off was especially notable, as he just racked up six goals and 53 points in 80 games a season ago. There's reason to believe Keith's numbers will rebound if the Blackhawks are able to improve their power-play output in 2018-19, but the 34-year-old blueliner probably shouldn't be counted on for high-end offensive production at this stage in his career.

At this rate, Keith is going to fail to hit the 40-point mark in a full season for the first time since the 2007-08 campaign.

You have to assume eventually Keith is going to light the lamp. The fact he's put this many shots on goal and hasn't scored yet is frankly surprising. Unfortunately for fantasy owners, the veteran's assists have started to dry up as well. He only has one point in his last seven contests.
