LeBlanc was sent down by the Blackhawks to the AHL's Rockford IceHogs on Friday, NBC Chicago reports. LeBlanc, who was the Hobey Baker Award winner in 2013, will try to do a better job at Rockford this season. He had a cup of coffee with the Blackhawks in 2012-13 season with two games and then collected seven goals and 15 assists in 76 games for Rockford last season.

Drew LeBlanc has been sent down to AHL Rockford. LeBlanc is entering his first full pro season after spending five campaigns with St. Cloud State. It wouldn't be surprising to see him enjoy a stint with the Blackhawks before the season's over.

Drew LeBlanc is in the mix for a roster spot with Chicago, but he admits that he may not be ready for NHL duty yet. "I think it's a process. The game definitely happens a lot faster at this level, and they say after the preseason, it picks up another half a step," he said. "So it's tough to tell until you get thrown into the fire. I guess we'll find out as the season goes on." However, that doesn't mean that LeBlanc has given up and he's already packing for AHL Rockford. He does have an opportunity to get a spot on the Blackhawks and coach Joel Quenneville has been impressed with his progress during camp.

Drew LeBlanc has inked a two-year contract with the Chicago Blackhawks. LeBlanc had 13 goals and 50 points in 42 NCAA games with St. Cloud State in 2012-13. He also enjoyed a two-game stint with Chicago last season.

Chicago Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville liked what he saw from Drew LeBlanc in his NHL debut on Wednesday. "He got better every shift," Quenneville said of LeBlanc. "First period he was just OK, second period saw him improve and the third period he had some high-quality stuff that didn't go in. You could see he can see plays and make plays. He did very well." Don't be surprised if LeBlanc plays again on Friday as Chicago gives some of their veteran players a breather.

Drew LeBlanc will make his NHL debut Wednesday night in Edmonton. Chicago signed the St. Cloud State star after he won the 2013 Hobey Baker Award, which goes annually to the NCAA's top men's player. It's a nice opportunity for him to get his feet wet in the NHL just in case he has to play in the postseason.

Coach Joel Quenneville has been impressed with Hobey Baker winner Drew Leblanc. The Blackhawks signed the St. Cloud State star on Friday and while he has yet to practice with the squad, he has been skating. "He's got some skill, a good set of hands, he sees plays and makes plays," Quenneville said. "Watching him skate today, you can see on the offensive side of things he can be pretty handy, pretty nifty. We'll get him some practice time and get him acclimated to our team game. There are no promises when he'll play, but we'll see if he gets a chance to get in there." Leblanc would obviously love to see some game action before the end of the season. He had 13 goals and 50 points in 42 games for the Huskies this season.
