Facing one of his former clubs, Hamilton produced his best performance yet as a Devil, adding four shots, two blocked shots, two hits and a plus-1 rating to his ledger. The 28-year-old has been as advertised to begin his first season in New Jersey, scoring one goal and four points in five games with two of the helpers coming on the power play.

Hamilton scored a goal on three shots, went plus-3 and added three hits in Friday's 4-3 overtime win over the Blackhawks.

After signing a seven-year deal with the Devils in free agency, it took all of 17 seconds for Hamilton to score his first goal with the team. The 28-year-old gives the rebuilding team immediate legitimacy on the blue line, and he's an all-around stud in fantasy. Hamilton recorded 42 points, a plus-20 rating, 180 shots on goal and 64 blocked shots in 55 outings with the Hurricanes last season, and his big contract assures he'll play a massive role for the Devils.

Hamilton signed a seven-year, $63 million contract with the Devils on Wednesday, Darren Dreger of TSN reports.

EDGE Analysis

Hamilton has been one of the best offensively minded defenseman in the league for quite some time, but he's taken his production to the next level over the past two seasons, racking up 24 goals, 82 points, 350 shots on net and a plus-50 rating while averaging 22:58 of ice time through 102 contests with Carolina. The 28-year-old righty will skate on New Jersey's top pairing and first power-play unit in 2021-22, and although he may not produce at the same rate he's displayed with the Hurricanes over the past two campaigns, he'll still be near the top of the league in points scored among defensemen, making him a highly desirable fantasy asset.

Hamilton was not protected by the Hurricanes in advance of Wednesday's Expansion Draft.

Hamilton is another on a list of great players left exposed to Seattle due to his status as a pending unrestricted free agent. The 28-year-old put up 42 points in 55 games last year and is a combined plus-50 (!) over his last two seasons, so he'll be a boon to whichever team signs him this summer.

Hamilton provided five shots and two hits in 26:55 of ice time in Tuesday's 2-0 loss to the Lightning in Game 5.

Unfortunately for Hamilton and the Hurricanes, Andrei Vasilevskiy was absolutely stellar in this game, providing a shutout to propel the Bolts to another trip to the conference finals in back-to-back seasons. The 27-year-old Hamilton provided five points, 55 shots, 18 hits and 15 blocks in all 10 of the Canes' postseason games. He is a pending UFA this offseason.

Hamilton scored a goal on seven shots and was plus-2 in Saturday's 6-4 loss to Tampa Bay in Game 4. He also had one block and one hit.
