Dean Arsene has signed an AHL contract with the St. John's IceCaps. He appeared in 63 games with the Portland Pirates last season, where he posted 10 points and 110 penalty minutes. Arsene has skated in 13 NHL games in his career and they all came in 2009-10 with the Edmonton Oilers.

The Coyotes have demoted defenseman Dean Arsene to Portland of the AHL. Arsene has only one valuable fantasy attribute---his ability to amass penalty minutes. He will be doing that in Portland. However, if he is called up during the season, don't hesitate to add him on short term basis as PIMs from the blueline are not a plentiful commodity. Defenseman Tyler Eckford was also demoted to the AHL.

The Phoenix Coyotes have signed Dean Arsene to a one-year, two-way contract. Arsene had 11 points and 137 penalty minutes in 77 games with the AHL Peoria Rivermen last season. We wouldn't be surprised if he spends the entire 2011-12 season in the minors.
