Drewiske has reassigned to AHL Lehigh Valley on Wednesday, the Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

The 30-year-old hasn't played in the NHL since 2012-13 when he played 29 games for the Kings and Canadiens. This season, the former Wisconsin Badger has one assist and two penalty minutes in nine games while posting an even rating. He should serve as the extra defenseman for the Flyers.

Drewiske (wrist) signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Flyers on Wednesday, Tim Riday of CSN Philadelphia reports. Drewiske appeared in 62 games for AHL Hamilton in the Canadiens organization before March wrist surgery ended his season prematurely. It's not certain if he'll be ready to contribute for Flyers' minor-league squad at Lehigh Valley when the 2015-16 campaign begins.

Drewiske hasn't appeared in the NHL ranks since the lockout-shortened 2012-13 season, and now that he's on the wrong side of 30 and coming off a major operation, it will only be more difficult for him to get back to hockey's highest level. The defenseman had four goals and 22 points over 62 games for Hamilton before requiring the wrist procedure.

Drewiske was waived by the Canadiens on Thursday, John Lu of TSN Montreal reports. The 29-year-old Drewiske, who missed most of last season following shoulder surgery, was unable to beat out Jarred Tinordi or Greg Pateryn in the competition for the Habs' seventh defenseman. He's expected to clear waivers and report to AHL Hamilton.

Davis Drewiske has been assigned to the minors. He cleared waivers on Monday and could finally see his first game action of the season. Drewiske underwent shoulder surgery in October.

Davis Drewiske was back at practice on Saturday. It is the first time the Habs' defenseman had particiapted in a practice this season as he had been recovering from shoulder surgery. Drewiske should be able to play in a game once the NHL resumes play in a few weeks. But it remains to be seen if that will be in Montreal or in the AHL.
