David Clarkson scored his second goal of the season to help the Maple Leafs edge the Washington Capitals in a shootout in Toronto Saturday night. Clarkson scored on a power play. His redirection goal came on just the Leafs' second shot of the second period and 12th of the night.

David Clarkson got his first goal as a member of the Maple Leafs in Tuesday's win over the New York Islanders. He has three points in his last three games and appears to finding a bit of a groove offensively after registering one assist in his first eight outings. Clarkson was happy to finally score, but he downplayed the tally after Toronto's win. "I've played in the league long enough where I haven't scored in 10 games. I've been through it before," said Clarkson. "I felt good on the ice all 10 of those games, I felt I was moving my feet and creating offense. I knew it would eventually come, but it's good to get it out of the way." He also has 28 penalty minutes and 39 hits in 11 games.

David Clarkson practiced on Toronto's third line Monday. He joined Jay McClement and Carter Ashton on the combination. Clarkson has one assist in seven games this season. "A pro like David knows he can contribute in other ways. The points are going to come for him. The goals will come through his play," said Leafs' vice-president of hockey operations Dave Poulin. "But he's a true professional. It's about wins and losses for David Clarkson. And that's what makes him so valuable." He has found much offensive production yet, but he does have 23 penalty minutes and 23 hits.

David Clarkson will play against his former New Jersey teammates on Friday night. "I had a lot of friends there," he said. "I have the utmost respect for Mr. (Lou) Lamoriello, and I've been lucky enough to play for that coaching staff, especially Peter DeBoer, someone I believe has made me successful in my career by giving me the opportunity and believing in me and understanding me as a person. I believe (they're) the reason that I'm playing in the NHL today." He has one assist and 18 penalty minutes in five games with the Leafs, while occupying a shutdown role alongside Dave Bolland. He's slated to play more of an offensive role now with Nazem Kadri as his center.

David Clarkson picked up his first point as a Maple Leaf Wednesday night. He earned an assist on Mason Raymond's game-winning goal against Calgary. Clarkson also had four penalty minutes in the contest.

David Clarkson didn't score in the Toronto Maple Leafs' 5-2 loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets on Friday, but he did show why he's valuable in fantasy via nice peripheral stats. Clarkson had a -1 rating, but he also collected two PIM, four SOG and one hit in just 15:10 TOI. He played 1:51 on the power play. If Clarkson can get the right assignment, he can be a nice addition; get him if you still can.

David Clarkson practiced Thursday on Toronto's third line. He skated with Dave Bolland and Mason Raymond in the session. Clarkson is projected to be a top-six forward once he returns to game speed. He just finished serving his 10-game suspension and will make his long-awaited season debut for the Leafs at Columbus on Friday night.

David Clarkson has completed his 10-game suspension. Clarkson was punished for leaving the bench to get involved with an altercation during a preseason game. The Maple Leafs managed to post a 7-3-0 record without him, but they'll be thrilled to finally be able to add the physical and highly paid forward. If he's a free agent in any of your fantasy leagues, he's worth taking a serious look at as he'll provide owners with a nice blend of points and penalty minutes.

David Clarkson has one game left to serve on his 10-game suspension. He has been a regular at practices as an extra after getting his suspension during the preseason for jumping onto the ice from the bench to get involved an altercation. "You come in, you'll be a piece to a puzzle. I'm coming in here to do what I was brought here to do," he said. "Not the antics or to jump on the ice. It's to win and put the puck in the net and do all those little things. That's what I was brought here to do and hopefully that happens right away." Clarkson will be eligible to make his regular-season debut on Friday night versus Columbus.

David Clarkson will not appeal his 10-game suspension. Clarkson is being punished for leaving the bench to engage in a fight during Sunday's preseason game. He's not eligible to make his regular season debut until Oct. 25, but he can still play in preseason contests. Clarkson hopes that taking part in those exhibition contests and training hard in practices will keep him game-ready.
