Clarkson, who had been a healthy scratch for the last two games, returned to action Thursday against the Islanders. He had one SOG and two hits in 10:35.He played a smarter game than usual -- he didn't get into scrums after the whistle and pursued the puck well. It didn't deliver any points, but at least he's back in the lineup.

Clarkson will be a healthy scratch for the second straight game Tuesday against the Rangers, thestar.com reports.Coach Peter Horachek indicated that his decision to sit Clarkson again is about keeping the Leafs' lineup intact after the team snapped an 11-game losing streak Saturday. To date, Clarkson has recorded 10 goals and five assists in 53 games for the Leafs, who signed him to a seven-year contract in July of 2013 worth an average of $5.25 million per season.

Clarkson will be a healthy scratch Saturday against Edmonton, Terry Koshan of the Toronto Sun reports. The 30-year-old did not take the ice for warmups and the team later confirmed that Clarkson will indeed watch from the press box as a healthy scratch. It marks Clarkson's first healthy scratch as a member of the Maple Leafs.

Clarkson did not take the ice for Saturday's pregame warmups, Megan Robinson of Sportsnet 590 The FAN reports. Clarkson skated a little over 11 minutes in Friday's loss to New Jersey. There hasn't been any word of an injury, so his absence may be performance related. Clarkson has chipped in just one goal and one assist in his last 17 games.

Clarkson potted his 10th goal of the season in Wednesday's 4-3 loss to the Senators. He finished the night with five hits and four shots on goal over 17:09 of ice time. It's just the second goal in 20 games for Clarkson, who still looks like one of the worst NHL free-agent signings in recent memory. Though a dependable source for hits and PIM, the winger has produced just 25 points and a minus-23 rating over his 108 games with the Leafs. After the 2014-15 season, he'll still have five years remaining on his contract with an annual cap hit of $5.25 million.

Clarkson had his first multi-point game with the Leafs in Saturday's win over the Canucks. He scored a goal and added an assist. He now has eight goals and two assists in 26 games and is one point shy of his season total of 11 from last season (60 games). We'd like to see his plus-minus improve, but maybe that's too much to ask for a guy with only one season on the positive side of the ledger. At this pace, he might actually score 25 goals this year. There's plenty of room for that on fantasy rosters.

Clarkson scored his sixth goal of the season in Thursday's win over the Lightning. It came in his 20th game of the season, a pace that would see him come close to 25 goals this year. Remarkably, it's one more than he scored in 60 games last season with the Buds. He'll never have a season like he did in New Jersey in 2011-12, but he's really playing solid hockey right now. He has two goals in his last three games and three in his last six.

Clarkson scored his fourth goal of the season in Sunday's 5-3 win over the Senators. He has three goals in his last nine games and five points overall (four goals, one assist) in 15 games. That's a 20-plus goal pace. Not bad for a third-line guy.

Clarkson scored his second goal of the season in Tuesday's win over the Islanders. He's already had a better season this year than he had all of last year. He's engaged and creating havoc, and his line has been the most consistent Leaf line this season. He has three points and 17 hits in seven games this season and is on pace to return to fantasy relevance in leagues where hits reign supreme.

Clarkson notched his first goal of the season in Sunday's win over the Rangers. Last year, it took him until November 19 to get his first goal. He has looked a whole lot better in just three games this year than he ever did all last season. His fantasy value may just be on the rebound. Get in now before others realize he's on the rise.
