Clarkson is day-to-day with a lower-body injury and will not play Friday against the Rangers, Aaron Portzline of the Columbus Dispatch reports.
EDGE Analysis
Clarkson underwent testing Thursday to ensure the injury isn't long term, so it appears as though the ailment isn't particularly serious. He won't play Friday, but should have a good chance of returning to action Saturday against the Rangers. Jared Boll will slot in as a bottom-six forward in Clarkson's absence.

Clarkson (undisclosed) was able to practice Tuesday, the Columbus Dispatch reports.
EDGE Analysis
It looks like he'll be fine for Friday's season opener against the Rangers. Clarkson is expected to begin the season on the fourth line, but could get bumped up to the second unit with Brandon Dubinsky and Boone Jenner if Rene Bourque breaks down.

Clarkson is "banged up" and will not play in Saturday's exhibition against the Predators, Aaron Portzline of the Columbus Dispatch reports.
EDGE Analysis
Clarkson was "nicked up" following Tuesday's preseason contest against Nashville, but was initially expected to return to action Saturday against the Predators. He is apparently still feeling the effects of that ailment, however, and thus will not suit up for the Blue Jackets' preseason finale on Saturday night. His absence is a bit disconcerting, but the 31-year-old winger is still currently expected to be ready for Columbus' Oct. 9 regular-season opener against the Rangers. Clarkson will likely slot into a bottom-six role with the Blue Jackets this season.

Clarkson reportedly was "nicked up" following Tuesday's game in Nashville and it caused him to miss Wednesday's practice, but he should fine for the final preseason contests this weekend against Buffalo and Nashville.
EDGE Analysis
Clarkson was acquired by Columbus in a trade with Toronto last February, only to tear his oblique muscle three games deep with the new club, ending his season prematurely. It may take some tinkering by head coach Todd Richards to find the best spot for him, though he's likely to see a bottom six-role this season. Clarkson used to be an excellent source of PIMs, as evidenced by four campaigns with more than 100 minutes in the Sin Bin between 2007-12, though past injuries may cause him to taper off in that area to some degree.

Clarkson will miss four to six weeks with a torn oblique muscle. Clarkson initially suffered the injury in the third period of Tuesday's contest against the Capitals in just his third game with his new club. If the winger is out towards the later end of the timetable, his season is likely over, but it's possible he could return for the last few games if it's on the shorter end.

Clarkson sustained an upper-body injury in the third period of Tuesday's game against the Capitals and will not return. Despite leaving with more than half of a period remaining, Clarkson gave fantasy owners exactly what they expected from him: a two-minute tripping penalty and a 10-minute misconduct penalty to bring his PIM total above the century mark for the season. The extent of his injury isn't immediately clear, but the Blue Jackets should provide a better assessment of his condition either after the game or following Wednesday's practice.

Clarkson made his Columbus debut Saturday in a 2-0 loss to the Devils. He had four hits, two SOG, one blocked shot and one minor penalty in 16:13. He skated on the top line with Nick Foligno and Ryan Johansen, an assignment that should put him on your fantasy radar. His most productive season in the NHL came while he skated with Ilya Kovalchuk in New Jersey. He is certainly more than capable of standing in front of the net and banging at rebounds.

Clarkson will skate on the Blue Jackets' top line with Ryan Johansen and Nick Foligno on Saturday, Shawn Mitchell of the Columbus Dispatch reports. The Jackets are really rolling out the welcome mat for the new guy. Given Clarkson's woeful performance in Toronto there's no reason to rush to your waiver wire yet based on this news, but this is a player with a 30-goal season on his resume. If Clarkson does show any signs of life in his new uniform, he could be worth scooping up.

Clarkson was traded to the Blue Jackets on Thursday in exchange for Nathan Horton (back). The two teams will swap forwards with undesirable contracts, and while Horton (back) is the more promising player from a talent perspective, it's entirely possible that the former Bruin (and Blue Jacket) will never be able to play again. Clarkson is healthy, but with just 26 points over the last two seasons, he hasn't come anywhere close to living up to his contract. He will likely skate on the third or fourth line for his new team.

Clarkson was ejected after running Sergei Gonchar into the boards from behind in Saturday's game.It came on his third shift. He had already gotten into a fight on an earlier shift and then clearly left his brain on the bench when he got back onto the ice. A suspension is likely looming -- Gonchar left the game and did not return. This really wasn't the way to impress a coach who had only just reactivated him from a benching.
