David Clarkson revealed he played in the postseason with a fractured foot.
"I had a bad foot at the beginning of the playoffs and I hurt it again at the end," he said. "Emotions are high during the playoffs and you can play through it, but then you realize you're still sore a couple of weeks after it's over. It was a fracture so I just stayed off it and relaxed this summer, if you can call it that. You can call me a sore loser." He didn't need off-season surgery to repair the damage. Clarkson skated in all 24 playoff games with the Devils, but he recorded just three goals after scoring a personal best of 30 during the regular season.

David Clarkson was worried when Martin Brodeur became an unrestricted free agent this summer.
"When he had to go out there and hire an agent for the very first time for 20 years . I would be lying if I said I wasn't a little nervous," Clarkson said. "He's a guy who's won that many Stanley Cups and done what he's done for this country Canada. It's an honour to have him in that net and do what he does." Brodeur ended up signing a two-year contract extension with the Devils. Eventually, New Jersey will have to find a replacement for the legendary 40-year-old goaltender, but with Brodeur re-signed, that can once again be placed on the backburner.

David Clarkson wasn't pleased with the penalty he was called for in Game 4 against Los Angeles.
"Whenever you take a penalty and they score on it, it's tough to swallow," he said. "You look like that bad guy, even though I don't think I really did anything. I didn't think I even had a penalty." He was whistled for a boarding penalty on Kings captain Dustin Brown in the third period, just after the Devils had taken a 1-0 lead. Los Angeles tied the contest with that man advantage just four seconds later. Clarkson rebounded from the unfortunate play though by setting up Adam Henrique's game-winning goal. He now has 22 penalty minutes and 12 points in 22 postseason games.

Ilya Kovalchuk opened the scoring in the first period and Ryan Carter tied the game at 2-2 just before the second intermission. Defenseman Bryce Salvador contributed two assists, while Marek Zidlicky, Zach Parise, Adam Henrique and Steve Bernier had one helper each in the win.

David Clarkson leads the Devils with two game-winning goals in the playoffs.
Clarkson has only netted game-winners in the playoffs after scoring a career-high 30 goals in the regular season. "Clarkie's a great story and I've said all along in my history with him he's always scored big goals at big times - playoffs, overtime, game-winners," Devils coach Pete DeBoer said. "He just has that knack and he came through a couple of times in the series (against the Flyers) with those type of goals." He's not going to be the biggest name in the Eastern Conference Finals, but he might be one of the biggest factors.

David Clarkson was credited with his second game-winning goal against Philadelphia in Tuesday's series-deciding contest.
The Devils eliminated the Flyers in five games after Clarkson capitalized on a miscue by defenseman Kimmo Timonen and goalie Ilya Bryzagalov. Timonen played the puck back to Bryzgalov, who tried to play it down the ice, but instead his attempt went off a streaking Clarkson and into the net. Clarkson now has eight points in 12 playoff games.

David Clarkson scored the game-winner in the New Jersey Devils' 4-1 Game 2 win versus the Philadelphia Flyers on Tuesday night.
With six assists, Clarkson has been relatively productive this postseason, but this was his first goal in nine playoff games this year -- and his third in 29 games. Of course, prior to this season, most of Clarkson's value came from the penalty-minute department. This year, though, he had 30 goals, so expectations were a bit higher for his production in the postseason. Adam Larsson had the first goal of a four-goal third period, while Travis Zajac potted his fifth of the playoffs and Bryce Salvador added the empty netter. Dainius Zubrus had two assists.

David Clarkson registered two assists in New Jersey's 3-2 2OT victory in Game 7 on Thursday.
Clarkson has been a big part of their playoff run with five points and 27 hits in seven playoff games. He wasn't able to get a goal against the Panthers in the first round, which is a bit surprising considering he reached the 30-goal mark in the regular season. That being said, he should be able to score against the Philadelphia Flyers in the Eastern Conference Semifinals.

David Clarkson thinks that the Devils' long break before the start of the playoffs has helped his lower body injury.
Clarkson skipped the Devils' season finale due to the injury and the New Jersey-Florida series is the last one to get under way. Due to that, Clarkson has had over a week to heal. "I'm ready to go," Clarkson said. "I'm exited. We've got a great group of guys in here, so it's going to be fun."

David Clarkson doesn't think his lower-body issue will be a problem once the playoffs begin for New Jersey on Friday night.
"Everybody is in the same situation going into the playoffs," he said. "It's 82 games. We're very healthy in here right now and we're ready to go." Clarkson should be considered fine to play in Game 1. He has scored just two times in 20 career playoff contests, but recorded a career-high of 30 during the regular season which will probably give him a boost.
