THE GOALIE EDGE: 4/12/14 primepucks.com Sat 4/12/14 11:18 AM

ALL GOALIES ARE CONFIRMED UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED AT TIME OF PRINT With most of today's matchups not meaning a whole lot, we will focus on a few that have seeding positioning implications and one classic Canadian rivalry: In the case of Boston, the President's Trophy may be on the line in this matchup against their nemesis Buffalo. Despite the vast disparity in points, the two teams have split their four meetings this season, with the Bruins holding a slight goal advantage (15-12) in those games. In what is their final home "dress rehearsal" before their playoff run, look for the "B's" to snap their two-game skid and enter the postseason on a "high"... With the New York Rangers having nothing to play for, the Montreal Canadiens need this win in a big way. If they can secure the two points tonight behind Carey Price, and the Lightning fall tomorrow, the Hab's will grab home ice for the first round in the playoffs. Huge incentive and a 10-1-1 record in last 12 meetings against the Blueshirts. The Price will be right... Sergei Bobrovsky returns to the net for Columbus, who have an outside shot at 3rd place in the Metropolitan Division with a win over Florida tonight and Philadelphia losing both remaining games. If they can pass Philly, they would avoid Boston and Pittsburgh in the first round of playoffs. Look for "Super Bob" to take care of business in the Sunshine state.. Old-fashioned "grudge match" taking place in the Canadian capital, as the reeling Maple Leafs take on the resilient Ottawa Senators. Toronto has won six straight against the Sens, but the home team is finishing the season on a high note with three consecutive victories. We love Craig Anderson to take this one in a nail-biter... FANTASY MUST STARTS: Sergei Bobrovsky, Columbus @ Florida Tuukka Rask(LIKELY), Boston vs. Buffalo Carey Price, Montreal vs. NY Rangers SLEEPER: Craig Anderson, Ottawa vs. Toronto DAILY FANTASY PICKS Steve: (95-68) Carey Price Ray: (92-70) Craig Anderson Mike: (70-51) TBA

Goalie Start: Anderson will start on Saturday vs. Toronto. dailyfaceoff.com Fri 4/11/14 2:56 PM

Goalie Start: Anderson gets the nod on Tuesday. dailyfaceoff.com Mon 4/7/14 7:56 PM

Anderson surrendered seven goals on 23 shots in a 7-4 loss to the Canadiens on Friday. The Habs spotted the Sens a three goal lead in the first period, but fired back with seven unanswered goals. On Tuesday, he draws a good matchup vs. the Isles in a "meaningless" contest for both teams.

THE GOALIE EDGE: 4/4/2014 primepucks.com Fri 4/4/14 2:17 PM

ALL GOALIES ARE CONFIRMED UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED AT THE TIME OF PRINT Peter Budaj will take on Craig Anderson and the Ottawa Senators while Carey Price will go up against Detroit tomorrow night. You never know which Anderson you are going to get this year while Budaj has given steady performances as the Montreal Canadiens backup.  The Habs are 8-2-0 in last 10 while the Sens are just 4-5-1. Go Habs.... The winner in tonight's showdown between the New Jersey Devils and the Washington Capitals will improve their shot at possibly making the playoffs with just a handful of games remaining after tonight. Caps goalie Jaroslav Halak has lost 4 in a row and has not looked like the goalie he was while in St. Louis. Cory Schneider, on the other hand, looks to be regaining the form he had prior to the Olympic break where he was stellar in net but not receiving goal support. Schneider has gotten the Devils 5 points in his last 5 starts, losing in 2 shootouts and an overtime game to Minnesota.  Both teams playing spirited hockey, but I'll give the edge to Schneider.... Buddy, I mean Matthew Hackett will be in net for the Buffalo Sabres as they continue their road trip with a stop in Detroit.  The Red Wings have picked up their game lately winning 3 in a row and 6 of their last 10 to put themselves in good position to make the playoffs for the 23rd consecutive year. Jimmy Howard will protect the net once again for the Red Wings and should stretch the streak to 4.... Roberto Luongo returns to the net for the Florida Panthers as they take on very pesky Calgary Flames team. Joey MacDonald gets the call as the Flames are playing the back end of two in a row. Ramo has started 7 in a row and with back-to-back nights, MacDonald gets the draw. The Cats have lost 4 in a row and are just 2-7-1 in last ten games, showing signs that their minds are elsewhere.  Stay warm with the Flames..... Thomas Greiss of the Phoenix Coyotes will look to stop his personal, and the team's, 3-game losing streak tonight against the Edmonton Oilers.  The Coyotes have slipped from the eighth playoff position during this losing streak while the Dallas Stars have gone on a run, winning 5 of their last 7.  The Oilers may prove the right elixir as they have lost 6 of last 7.  Look for Ben Scrivens (LIKELY) to get the call for Edmonton..... Columbus has probably the toughest schedule of all the teams battling to make the playoffs in the Eastern Conference but catch a break tonight as both the Blue ...

Goalie Start: Anderson will start for the Senators. dailyfaceoff.com Wed 4/2/14 2:56 PM

Anderson allowed one goal on 31 shots in a shootout win over the Hurricanes on Monday. He has won each of his last two starts while allowing just four goals on 80 shots (.950 SV%). Tonight, he will start vs. the Islanders; a matchup that makes him a strong fantasy start.

THE GOALIE EDGE: 4/2/2014 primepucks.com Wed 4/2/14 1:19 PM

ALL GOALIES ARE CONFIRMED UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED AT THE TIME OF PRINT Anders Nilsson, winner of 3 of his last 4 starts, will be in net for the NY Islanders as they head to Ottawa to take on Craig Anderson and the Senators. Ottawa is clinging to hopes of making this year's playoffs as they are 5 points back of the eighth position in the in the Eastern Conference. There are basically 7 teams fighting it out for the last two spots in the East.  The Sens have won three in a row and look to close the gap.  Go with the Sens at home.... Detroit is a team trying to solidify their layoff position as they take on the Boston Bruins. The Red Wings are 6-3-1 in their last ten and look to be peaking at the right time.  Jimmy Howard will face Tuukka Rask in what could possibly be a first round showdown preview. This is the game of the night to watch.  Playoff hockey is just around the corner.... The Edmonton Oilers head south down Pacific Coast Highway to take on the Anaheim Ducks after facing the San Jose Sharks last night. Look for Viktor Fasth (LIKELY) to face his former team tonight while the Ducks, chasing the top spot in the Western Conference, will go with Jonas Hiller (LIKELY). The Ducks have been rolling of late while the Oilers have been sliding.  This could get ugly fast.... By slipping against Winnipeg last night, the Phoenix Coyotes find themselves just outside the last playoff slot as Dallas won which resulted in the two teams tied with the same number of points, but the Stars have one more win than the Coyotes. And they have a game in hand.  Thomas Greiss will look to keep the Coyotes playoff hopes alive as they head to Los Angeles to take on Jonathan Quick (LIKELY) and the Kings. An interesting matchup for sure, but Phoenix has a lot to lose in this one, so they should come out firing.   With a little bit of luck, perhaps the Yotes can pull this one out... FANTASY MUST STARTS: Jonas Hiller, Anaheim vs. Edmonton Craig Anderson, Ottawa vs. NY Islanders SLEEPER: Thomas Greiss, Phoenix @ Los Angeles DAILY FANTASY PICKS: Steve: (93-60) Craig Anderson Ray: (87-65) Jonas Hiller Mike: (70-50) TBA

Goalie Start: Anderson starts for the Senators. dailyfaceoff.com Mon 3/31/14 2:56 PM

Anderson gave up three goals, but made 46 saves in a win over the Blackhawks on Friday. He was given last night off, so there is no surprise to see him get the call tonight vs. Carolina. Anderson is 11-8-3 with a 3.24 GAA and .901 SV% at Canadian Tire Centre this season.

DAILY PRIME - MARCH 29, 2014: TORONTO CLAWED BY GIROUX primepucks.com Sat 3/29/14 7:25 AM

After a disappointing start to the season, Claude Giroux is now third in NHL scoring behind Crosby and Getzlaf.   Giroux only had 6 points in the first 12 games but has really been a force since then, scoring 72 points in 61 games.  Don't be shy taking the talented Flyer ahead of Ovechkin or Malkin in next year's draft.  Giroux made sure the team rebounded from their poor performance against the NY Rangers the other night with a goal and 2 assists. Where have you gone Phil Kessel? Ever since the Olympic break, Kessel has been close to invisible in the Toronto offense, perhaps the main reason why the Leafs have struggled lately and are just 4-9-2 since the O-break.   Every player goes through slumps, so don't let this streak dampen your expectations in next year's draft. How much does Craig Anderson mean to the Ottawa Senators? Look no further than his return to the crease in last night's matchup against Chicago Blackhawks.  The Senators were just one win in their last 7 games, all with Robin Lehner in net. Anderson went on to put aside 46 of 49 shots on goal by the Hawks to raise his record to 22-14-8.  It's a bit late for this season but look for a rebound next year as he should be able to put his latest bout with injuries behind him. A desperate Dallas Stars team made Nashville goalie Pekka Rinne look mortal last night in Big D by pasting the Preds 7-3.   It was a total team effort from the net out with 13 players getting at least a point in the shellacking. Alex Goligoski had 3 assists to lead all scorers on the evening and Kari Lehtonen stopped 25 of 28 for the win. Dallas is now just 3 points behind Phoenix with a game in hand for the eighth and final playoff spot. Karri Ramo continued his solid play ever since his return from injury by winning his third game in his last 4 starts. The 4-3 victory over the NY Rangers raised his record to 14-11-4 with a 2.57 GAA and a .913 SP.  Although the team is ranked near the bottom of the NHL, Ramo could provide steady goaltending next year as a number 2 fantasy goalie, especially if the team can continue this level of play heading into next season.  The Flames are 9-6-0 in March, proof that this team is still battling heading into the home stretch. The Edmonton Oilers are 6-5- since March 4th, the day before the trade deadline. That was the point in time where the Oilers shored up their goaltending for the future by getting Viktor Fasth from the Anaheim Ducks and Ben Scrivens from the LA Kings a few weeks ...
