Conacher is one of the candidates to replace the injured Ryan Callahan (hip) in the lineup to start this season, but he hasn't been overly impressive this preseason.
EDGE Analysis
Conacher appeared to have the inside track on the job before camp opened, but there's no guarantee anymore given his middling impact so far. But he does have a one-way deal, which means he'd have to clear waivers to get to the AHL. Conacher can score and he's played for coach Jon Cooper before -- that might keep him on the Bolts' roster for now.

Conacher is eager to prove he deserves a roster spot with the Lightning this season, reports the Tampa Bay Times. He is coming off a 22-goal season (48 games) with Bern in the Swiss League.
EDGE Analysis
"The fire is in the belly," Conacher said. "This is my last chance, I think. I'm going to try to turn some heads again. Like I did last time." Conacher played in Tampa Bay, but was shipped to Ottawa for Ben Bishop in what is now viewed as a lopsided deal. Teammate Tyler Johnson believes in Conacher, who may get a shot to fill the injured Ryan Callahan's role. "He can help our team," Johnson said. "He's a guy that has a tremendous shot. He's a hard-working player, plays on an edge, with a little bit of grit. We'll see what he can do."

Conacher signed a one-year, one-way contract with the Lightning, the team announced Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
Conacher has floated around the AHL and other foreign leagues after failing to find a place in the NHL in his young career, but Tampa Bay will look to give the 26-year-old another chance. He last played for the Canucks in 2015.

Conacher signed a contract Thursday with SC Bern of the Swiss Elite League, David Pagnotta of TheFourthPeriod.com reports. After flaming out with a number of NHL clubs over the last two seasons, Conacher will now try to recoup some value over in Europe. Conacher is still just 25 years old, so the door is hardly closed for a return to the NHL down the road.

Conacher wasn't extended a qualifying offer by the Canucks on Monday and will become an unrestricted free agent, Brad Ziemer of the Vancouver Sun reports. The fall continues for Conacher, who just two years ago fetched star goalie Ben Bishop as a trade return. Since arriving in Ottawa in that April 2013 deal, Conacher has bounced around four organizations and finished out last season at AHL Utica, where he tallied seven goals and 16 points in 20 games. He's still just 25 years old, but is likely bound for the minors to start the 2015-16 campaign.

The Canucks acquired Conacher from the Islanders on Monday in exchange for Dustin Jeffrey, Newsday's Arthur Staple reports. Conacher, who has recorded three points in 15 NHL games this season, provides the Canucks' organization with added depth up front, though at this stage it's unclear if he'll initially work with the big club or join the team's AHL affiliate in Utica.

Conacher cleared waivers Saturday and has been loaned to AHL Bridgeport. Once a promising prospect for the Lightning, Conacher has fallen on hard times while spending the last two seasons with the Senators, Sabres, and Islanders, tallying 29 points in 94 games. An extended stay in the minors might be exactly what he needs at this time to get his career back on track.

Conacher was waived by the Islanders on Friday. Given the chance to claim a top-line role for the Islanders early in the season, Conacher squandered the opportunity before soon becoming a routine healthy scratch. He ended up appearing in 15 games, producing just three points. He'll likely head to AHL Bridgeport once he passes through waivers.

Conacher will be a healthy scratch Thursday against the Kings, Arthur Staple of Newsday reports. After starting the season on the Isles' top line, Conacher has seen his stock tumble considerably in the last couple of weeks. He was recently dropped to bottom-six duty and will now be headed to the press box for the first time this season. It remains to be seen if he'll become a regular healthy scratch for the Islanders, but Conacher doesn't seem to be on the cusp of gaining much value any time soon.

Conacher's outing against the Sharks on Saturday came to a premature end, after he finished the game in the penalty box when he was assessed a 10-minute misconduct. It initially looked like an injury might result in an early exit for Conacher, as he was forced to the locker room temporarily in third period upon taking an elbow to the head from Jason Demers. He quickly returned and was charged with the penalty thereafter, resulting in him seeing less than 10 minutes of action on the night. Conacher has been averaging 14:25 of ice time over 11 games this season, but that number figures to fall in subsequent contests, with the Isles deciding to replace him on the top line with Brock Nelson.
