Crawford skated Thursday for the first time since injuring his foot last month, ESPN Chicago reports. It's a good sign that Crawford was able to get back on the ice, but he will not play Thursday and is a "long shot" to play this weekend, so it remains to be seen when he will be ready to play next. Antti Raanta and Scott Darling will continue handling the goaltending duties until Crawford is ready for game action.

Coach Joel Quenneville said after Wednesday's morning skate that Crawford would miss two-to-three weeks with a lower-body injury, NHL.com's Brian Hedger reports. It's already the second extended absence of the season for Crawford, who miss about a week of October with an upper-body ailment. He apparently sustained this latest injury in an off-ice incident, but the origin isn't known. The Blackhawks will attempt to get by with Antti Raanta and Scott Darling in the next for the next several games, with Quenneville likely content to ride the hot hand. Still, both could struggle to live up to the standard set by Crawford, who seemed on his way to a career-best season with a 12-5-1 record, 1.87 GAA and .929 save percentage over 18 outings.

It's not clear what type of setback Crawford is dealing with, but it prevented him from practicing Tuesday, and will also keep him off the ice Wednesday. It remains to be seen if Crawford will be available for Chicago's next game Friday against Montreal.

Crawford will be in the net Friday against the Ducks, Judd Sirott of 720 WGN Radio reports. The Blackhawks will face off against two Western Conference heavyweights in the Ducks and Kings on back-to-back days over the weekend, so it will be interesting to see if coach Joel Quenneville turns to Crawford for both of these pivotal games. He'll at least have little reason to shy away from giving Friday's start to Crawford, who could be on the cusp of the best season of his career. He's won four of his last five starts and owns a 1.98 GAA and .926 save percentage over 16 appearances.

His tidy .926 save percentage and 1.98 GAA have remained steady throughout November, and he remarkably still hasn't allowed more than three goals in a single game through 16 starts this season. Crawford surrendered three goals on 29 shots in Sunday's loss to Vancouver. Despite the loss, it was a strong outing for Crawford, who was making his 11th straight start. He has been one of the best fantasy goalies this season, winning four of his past five games and posting a 9-5-1 record on the year. Backup Anti Raanta (illness) is feeling better and may get a start in the near-future, but any night Crawford is in the Hawks' crease, he needs to be in your lineup.
