Perfetti was labeled more than day-to-day by coach Dave Lowry, so his placement on IR shouldn't come as a surprise. Even once cleared to play, the 20-year-old winger could struggle to get back into the lineup, especially after the team picked up Adam Brooks off waivers.

Perfetti will be out longer than "day-to-day" with an upper-body injury, Ken Wiebe of Sportsnet reports.

The 20-year-old opened his NHL account with a beauty, finishing a two-on-one rush with Pierre-Luc Dubois by ripping the puck just inside the near post past Vitek Vanecek. It's Perfetti's first point in five games since his promotion, but as long as he's seeing ice time with Dubois and Kyle Connor on the Jets' top line, the rookie will have some fantasy appeal.

Perfetti will be in action against Detroit on Thursday after being added to the active roster, Scott Billeck of the Winnipeg Sun reports.

EDGE Analysis

Perfetti is poised to play on the Jets' top line with Pierre-Luc Dubois and Kyle Connor in addition to linking up with the No. 2 power-play unit. Given those roles, the winger could be a top-half fantasy target at least until Blake Wheeler (knee) and Nikolaj Ehlers (COVID-19 protocols) are cleared to return.

The Jets reassigned Perfetti to the taxi squad Sunday.
