Considering Johnson hasn't been able to get back on the ice and the Ducks have just seven games remaining likely means the netminder is done for the season, even if the team hasn't officially made any announcements. If the 32-year-old does suit up again this year, it likely won't be until April. Even if healthy, Johnson may not have been able to steal starts away from John Gibson and Ryan Miller.

Johnson's misfortune comes at a bad time, as the Ducks also lost John Gibson (upper-body) to injured reserve as well. Ryan Miller (knee) will be activated from injured reserve and will serve as the backup to Kevin Boyle on Wednesday and the duo should handle the goaltending duties until Johnson and Gibson are in the clear. The Ducks will likely have a decision to make between keeping Johnson or Miller when Johnson and Gibson are both healthy.

Johnson led the Ducks out to the ice for pregame warmups Saturday, Elliott Teaford of The Orange County Register reports. As a result, he'll be the road starter versus the Flyers.

With John Gibson dealing with an upper-body injury and Ryan Miller being bogged down by a concussion, Johnson became the clear choice to take on the Flyers. It's an unenviable assignment considering Philadelphia has won eight of the past 10 contests. The 32-year-old is 2--6-0 with a 3.54 GAA and .884 save percentage since the team scooped him off waivers -- via the Blues -- on Dec. 11.

Johnson stopped nine of 10 shots after replacing starter John Gibson for the third period of Thursday's 4-0 loss to Ottawa.

Gibson was crashed into by teammate Jaycob Megna with 1:52 remaining in the second period, and the starter finished the frame before being removed for precautionary reasons. Even if Gibson is forced to miss time beyond this one, Johnson's not a recommended fantasy play given his 2-10-0 record and Anaheim's six-game losing streak, during which the team has been outscored 31-6.

Johnson allowed four goals on 32 shots in Tuesday's 4-1 loss to the Canadiens.

Make it eight consecutive losses for Johnson, whose record is now 2-10-0 on the year with a 3.41 GAA and .885 save percentage. The Ducks' backup had replaced John Gibson in Anaheim's last three games entering Tuesday. Neither Ducks goalie offers much fantasy value considering how badly the team has struggled.

Johnson's 2-9-0 with a 3.36 GAA and .886 save percentage this season, so it's recommended owners look elsewhere at the goalie position here, especially with Anaheim having been outscored 23-5 over its past four games.

Johnson entered Monday's game early in the third period and stopped eight of nine shots in a 6-1 loss to the Maple Leafs.

John Gibson had to be replaced for the third straight game, and while Johnson hasn't actually received a start since Jan. 20, he's played more than 60 minutes in those relief appearances, allowing four goals on 24 shots. It's likely the 32-year-old will get the official nod for Tuesday's game in Montreal, but given the Ducks' overall struggles right now, don't count on Johnson posting strong numbers.

It was a rout -- there's no other way to describe it. Better for both Johnson and John Gibson to sleep this one off and move on.

Johnson made one save on the only shot he faced during a relief appearance in a 5-1 loss to the Blues on Wednesday.

At least he didn't yield a goal, but this performance does little to help Johnson's numbers. He was simply in net for mop up duty, and with the game well in hand, the Blues didn't test him. Johnson is 2-9-0 with a 3.28 GAA and .889 save percentage in 14 games with the Blues and Ducks.

Johnson stopped 26 of 28 shots in Sunday's 3-0 loss to the Islanders.

EDGE Analysis

New York's final goal was scored into an empty net. Johnson is now winless in three outings since joining the Ducks, but that's mostly a product of Anaheim only scoring three goals in total in those games -- his 2.26 GAA and .918 save percentage are strong, and should earn the veteran netminder a little more action behind John Gibson after the All-Star break.
