Addison was unable to secure an NHL deal in 2024-25, playing on an AHL-only contract. He earned 36 points over 62 regular-season AHL games with Henderson and Springfield, which showcases his offensive upside. However, the Devils have plenty of blueliners on their NHL roster and better prospects to turn to before Addison, so he should be expected to spend much of 2025-26 with AHL Utica.

Unfortunately, Addison has fallen, managing only a goal and 16 helpers in 72 regular-season appearances between the Wild and Sharks in 2023-24. He will try to catch on somewhere, but he could spend the 2024-25 season in the minors.

Addison saw action in 60 games for the Sharks last season in which he tallied one goal and 11 assists while averaging 17:21 of ice time. The 24-year-old blueliner didn't quite live up to his 2022-23 numbers when he posted 29 points in 62 contests while with the Wild. Still, the Manitoba native could be given some leeway for having struggled on the worst team in the league last year. If Ottawa can get 30 points out of Addison in 2024-25, he will be well worth whatever full contract the club might give him.

Addison, who would have been a restricted free agent July 1, will not be re-signed by the Sharks, Max Miller of The Hockey News reports Monday. As such, Addison will be an unrestricted free agent when the market opens Monday.

Addison saw action in 60 games for San Jose this season in which he garnered one goal on 75 shots, 11 assists and six power-play points after he was traded from the Wild. While he may not rejoin the Sharks, the 24-year-old blueliner should earn a contract somewhere in the NHL. Depending on where he ends up, Addison could be in line for minutes with the No. 2 power-play unit, which would bolster his fantasy value.

Addison notched an assist and went minus-2 in Saturday's 5-4 overtime loss to the Blackhawks.

Addison has three helpers over 12 outings in March. He's been able to stick in the lineup regularly this month after ending February with two healthy scratches. The 23-year-old blueliner is up to 17 points, 78 shots on net, 73 blocked shots, 32 PIM and a minus-34 rating through 60 contests between the Sharks and the Wild. Nine of his points have come on the power play, but the Sharks' lack of consistent talent limits Addison's appeal, even with a spot on the first unit.

Addison logged an assist and two blocked shots in Tuesday's 7-6 overtime loss to the Stars.

The helper was Addison's first point in five games. The 23-year-old blueliner has had a tough time staying in the lineup regularly in 2024, playing in 17 of the Sharks' 24 games since the start of January. The blueliner has 15 points, 64 shots on net, 59 blocked shots, 28 PIM and a minus-21 rating over 51 appearances between the Sharks and the Wild this season.

Addison notched a pair of assists in Saturday's 4-3 loss to the Blue Jackets.

Addison had gone 11 games without a point, and he sat as a healthy scratch for five contests in that span. With Henry Thrun (shoulder) reportedly close to a return, Addison will need to start producing something to stay in the lineup. Addison is at 14 points (eight on the power play), 60 shots on net, 51 blocked shots, 28 PIM and a minus-18 rating through 46 games between the Sharks and the Wild this season.

Addison produced a power-play assist, four blocked shots and two PIM in Sunday's 3-1 loss to the Avalanche.

Addison snapped a five-game point drought with his helper on Tomas Hertl's second-period marker. It was Addison's first power-play point since Nov. 25. The defenseman is up to 12 points, 41 shots on net, 36 blocked shots, 20 PIM and a minus-15 rating over 34 appearances between the Sharks and the Wild this season. Addison may be called on for a larger role if Mario Ferraro (upper body) misses time after leaving Sunday's contest.
