The Carolina Hurricanes don't plan on trading Bryan Allen.
Allen is one of those defensemen that has more value to his team than he does to most fantasy owners. He's scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent on July 1st, but Carolina is interested in re-signing him.

The Carolina Hurricanes' attempts to re-sign Bryan Allen haven't gone well.
Allen has eight points and 56 penalty minutes in 61 games this season. If they can't come to terms with him too, they might seriously investigate the possibility of trading him.

According to a league source, the Philadelphia Flyers have an interest in Carolina defenseman Bryan Allen.
The Hurricanes took Tim Gleason off the market by inking him to a four-year, $16-million extension. Allen owns a $2.9 million cap hit and he is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent this summer. Montreal blueliner Hal Gill is also thought to be on Philadelphia's radar. Both players are viewed as defensive-minded rearguards, so it's clear what the Flyers are looking to add.

Bryan Allen is ranked eighth in the league with 102 blocked shots going into Thursday night's action.
The Hurricanes are fourth in the NHL with 720 blocks this campaign and Allen has led the way in that regard. He also has six assists and 50 penalty minutes in 48 matches. Carolina's Brandon Sutter is currently second among the league's forwards in blocked shots with a total of 51 this year.

Bryan Allen (broken nose) didn't take part in Friday's practice.
Allen has been playing with a broken nose for about a week, so this is really just an FYI. He's still probable for Saturday's game.

Blueliner Bryan Allen assisted on both of Carolina's goals in their 4-2 loss on Monday.
Alexei Ponikarovsky and Chad LaRose each scored in the losing effort. Jeff Skinner registered an assist, giving the sophomore five points in just three games.

Allen (lower body) is considered doubtful for Thursday's game against the Penguins, the Los Angeles Times reports.
The 13-year veteran appears likely to miss the regular season opener with the unspecified lower-body ailment, and his status beyond Thursday is uncertain. Fortunately, the Ducks decided to keep eight defenseman out of camp, so they'll have more than enough depth to make for Allen's absence against Pittsburgh.
