Brett McLean has been placed on unconditional waivers by the Chicago Blackhawks. Once his contract is terminated, he will play in Europe for the remainder of the season. McLean scored seven goals and 21 points in 36 games with AHL Rockford this year.

The Chicago Blackhawks have re-assigned Brett McLean to Team Canada for the 2011 Spengler Cup. The tournament gets underway in Davos, Switzerland on Monday and is the biggest European tournament during the holidays. McLean had 19 points in 29 games for Rockford of the AHL this season.

Brett McLean was claimed off waivers on Saturday by the Coyotes. McLean, who was waived by the Jets, will be sent to Portland of the AHL. He is nothing more than organizational depth.
