The Oilers placed Perlini in COVID-19 protocols Saturday, Jason Gregor of OilersNation.com reports.

Perlini will miss Edmonton's next two games, and the following two games have been postponed, meaning he won't play any sooner than Jan. 16. The fourth-liner has three points in 17 contests and should return to his regular role once he clears protocols.

Perlini scored a goal on three shots in Wednesday's 4-2 loss to the Maple Leafs.

Perlini got the Oilers on the board at 9:58 of the first period. The tally was his second of the year, though he's picked up all three of his points this season in his last four games. With the Oilers' forward group running a bit thin, Perlini will likely remain a fixture in the bottom six in the near term. The 25-year-old is unlikely to score enough to draw much fantasy interest.

Perlini scored a goal on seven shots, dished an assist, logged two hits and went plus-2 in Thursday's 5-2 win over the Blue Jackets.

Perlini set up Derek Ryan's first-period tally before scoring one of his own in the second. The 25-year-old Perlini had been a non-factor in his previous appearances this season, logging no points and just six shots on net before Thursday's explosion on offense. He's still expected to see just a bottom-six role, so don't expect a repeat effort any time soon.

Perlini played 40 games between the Red Wings and Blackhawks in 2019-20, registering just four points and a minus-18 rating. The forward is now three years removed from his career-high 30-point output with the Coyotes in 2017-18. Perlini will be on his fourth team in three seasons if he doesn't return to the Red Wings when free agency opens Friday.

Perlini, who sat out the previous four games as a healthy scratch, logged just 6:51 of ice time in Tuesday's 5-2 loss to the Hurricanes.

The Red Wings scratched Justin Abdelkader due to an illness, which paved the way for Perlini to rejoin the lineup. Still, he doesn't see nearly enough ice time to warrant a look in fantasy games.
