Brendan Mikkelson suited up for the first time this season on Tuesday night. He logged 14:09 of ice time and contributed an assist in Tampa's 4-1 win in Carolina. The Lightning have eight defensemen on their roster, so coach Guy Boucher has been juggling his combinations to keep his players fresh. Brian Lee and Marc-Andre Bergeron were the odd-men out against the Hurricanes.

Brendan Mikkelson said over Twitter that will be flying back to Tampa on Tuesday. During the lockout, he has played in 17 games with Vasteras in Sweden's second division where he has collected seven points and 20 penalty minutes. Mikkelson shouldn't be on fantasy radar though.

Brendan Mikkelson earn a pair of helpers in a 5-4 win for Vasteras against Almtuna on Thursday. St. Louis' Patrik Berglund and Calgary's Mikeal Backlund scored for Vasteras in the contest to help their lockout emerge with a victory.

Brendan Mikkelson was reportedly recruited to play for Vasteras by Mikeal Backlund of the Calgary Flames. The two of them were a part of the Flames' system. "I have very good references about him, especially (Backlund)," Vasteras GM Niklas Johansson said. "His reference was the deciding factor." Mikkelson will play for the second division Swedish club for the duration of the lockout.

Brendan Mikkelson will play for Vasteras of the Sweden's second division during the NHL lockout. He is projected to debut with the club on Thursday. Mikkelson inked a one-year deal with Tampa Bay back in June after skating in 41 games with the Lightning last season.

Brendan Mikkelson has signed a one-year, one-way contract with Tampa Bay. He would've become a restricted free agent on Sunday. Mikkelson skated in 41 games with the Lightning after being acquired from Calgary in January, where he posted one goal, two assists and a minus-4 rating.

Brendan Mikkelson scored a goal in a 3-1 loss Saturday night. It was the first goal of Mikkelson's 116 game NHL career. Adam Hall and Tim Wallace each registered an assist for Tampa Bay.

Brendan Mikkelson returned to action on Friday March 2.
