Brandon Sutter scored his third goal with the Penguins on Saturday in Pittsburgh's 3-1 loss to New Jersey. His power-play marker was assisted by Simon Despres and Tyler Kennedy. Sutter has picked up six points in 12 games with his new club and he extended his current point streak to five contests.

The Penguins' third line received high marks for their performance in Wednesday's scrimmage. Brandon Sutter, Matt Cooke and Tyler Kennedy got into the scoring act in a 5-4 win for Team Black over Team White. Cooke scored two goals set up by Sutter and Kennedy concluded the match with a goal and an assist. Coach Dan Bylsma had the three of them together on the first day of training camp, so they'll probably open the regular season as a unit as well.

Coach Dan Bylsma said he may try out Brandon Sutter alongside Evgeni Malkin and James Neal this season. "I also feel like I wouldn't anchor (new acquisition Brandon) Sutter to that third-line center position," Bylsma said. "If he is winning a lot of the right-hand draws he could conceivably go take the draw and be on Geno's line. There could be some movement." Sutter is slated to play the majority of the year as the team's third-line pivot, but he is hoping to have a bigger offensive role with the club than he received with Carolina.

It took him a while to come to grips to being traded, but Penguins forward Brandon Sutter is more at peace with the move now. The 23-year-old called the initial shock of being traded, which occurred June 22, "tough" and "disappointing," but now he says he's "really pumped about it." "It's no secret that they've got a pretty special group here," Sutter said. "I feel like I'm a part of that. I've played against this team enough. It's nice to be on the other side now." Sutter is slated to be the Pens' third-line center.

Brandon Sutter is hoping to take a bigger offensive role with the Pittsburgh Penguins. "I don't want to be looked at as just a defensive player," Sutter said. That might be his wish, but we don't see him getting much time on either of the top two lines or a spot on the Penguins' first power-play unit. He's worth keeping an eye on in training camp, but we don't see the trade from Carolina to Pittsburgh helping his fantasy value.

Brandon Sutter hasn't spoken out since being traded to Pittsburgh, but he's expected to end his silence on Monday. Sutter was "shocked" by the trade, according to a Carolina Hurricanes spokesman. Sutter was a key part of the deal that sent Jordan Staal to the Hurricanes. He's projected to be a solid third-line center in Pittsburgh.

The Penguins nabbed Brandon Sutter from the Hurricanes, along with prospect Brian Dumoulin and their eighth-overall pick in this year's draft, in a deal that jetissoned Jordan Staal. It's never easy to let a young star leave, but Pens general manager Ray Shero received a decent haul for their budding superstar. While the 23-year-old Sutter doesn't offer the same offensive upside as Staal, he is adept defensively and has some promise from a scoring-output standpoint. He had 17 goals and 32 points in 2011-12 and posted 21 goals and 40 points his sophomore year in the league. More of a shutdown center, Sutter was 50.5 percent on faceoffs this season and also received more short-handed ice time than any Carolina forward.

Brandon Sutter was given a maintenance day on Monday, but he is expected to play Tuesday against Washington. He hasn't registered a point in five consecutive games and has two in his past 12. Sutter is a hard-working bottom-six forward, but he shouldn't be counted on for offense. He has 13 goals and 11 assists in 65 games this season and he has contributed 70 blocked shots as well.

Brandon Sutter scored a goal, but Carolina was defeated by the Islanders by a score of 5-2 Tuesday night. The goal was Sutter's 11th of the campaign and now places him in a tie for third on the team in goals. Tim Brent also found the back of the net for Carolina in the loss.

Brandon Sutter scored his 10th goal of the season on Friday. Sutter now has three goals and four points in his last four games. Sutter should come close to his 2009-10 career highs of 21 goals and 40 points.
