Brandon Prust is eligible to return from his one-game suspension in Game 5 on Wednesday. He was banned from playing in Game 4 for his elbow to the back of New Jersey's Anton Volchenkov on Saturday afternoon. Prust was frustrated with not being able to play, but he did understand the NHL's decision. "I'm not a repeat offender but it's definitely something they've focused on all year on getting out of the game," he said. "I definitely didn't violently attack anybody but I still got my elbow up."

Brandon Prust has received a one-game suspension for elbowing New Jersey's Anton Volchenkov in the back of the head. The incident occurred in the second period of Game 3. "While it's true that Volchenkov turns away from Prust in order to avoid being checked, his doing so does not cause an otherwise legal hit to become an elbow to the head," disciplinarian Brendan Shanahan said. "Rather, Prust reacts to Volchenkov's evasive move by flaring his elbow. In fact, it's not until after he realizes that he will not make contact that Prust extends and raises his elbow to clip Volchenkov's head." Prust will miss Monday's game, but he will be eligible to return on Wednesday.

New York Rangers tough guy Brandon Prust told his side of the story behind hit on Anton Volchenkov in a phone hearing with the NHL on Sunday morning. Prust pointed out that he hasn't had an elbow penalty this season and also fired a barb at New Jersey Devils head coach Peter DeBoer, saying that he doesn't care what DeBoer thinks because he isn't Prust's coach. Prust said that he has "no idea" what the decision will be.

Brandon Prust will have a hearing with the NHL on Sunday morning over the elbow he landed to the back of Anton Volchenkov's head in the second period Saturday afternoon. The winger wasn't penalized in the game for the hit, but Volchenkov was clearly shaken up. Prust is a very physical player, but not one who goes over the line like he seemed to do here. "It was pretty dirty actually, an elbow hit in the head," Volchenkov said. "It was pretty hard, but I [finished] the game. I feel not bad now." Prust could become the 12th player in the playoffs -- and the second Ranger (Carl Hagelin) -- to get suspended. Mats Zuccarello, who has been out with a broken wrist, is a possibility to re-join the lineup if Prust is indeed suspended.

Brandon Prust might be suspended for elbowing New Jersey's Anton Volchenkov on Saturday. Prust appeared to hit Volchenkov in the head. No penalty was called and both players finished the game, but Devils coach Pete DeBoer didn't like the hit. "Head hunting plain and simple," DeBoer said. We'll see if disciplinarian Brendan Shanahan agrees.

Brandon Prust scored his fifth goal of the season on Friday in the Rangers 4-3 loss to Chicago. Brad Richards with his 19th and Artem Anisimov with his 14th, also scored for the slumping Rangers. Prust is known more as an enforcer as he has 140 penalty minutes which place him fifth in the NHL in that category so his five goals and 16 points to go with a plus-two rating give him plenty of fantasy value in traditional pools.

Brandon Prust snapped a 48-game goalless drought with his third marker of the year on Sunday versus Washington. His shorthanded tally in the third period held up as the game winner in a 3-2 win over Washington. Prust has recorded 14 points in 54 games in 2011-12 and his 114 penalty minutes, which ranks him eighth in the league, should land him on some fantasy radars.

Brandon Prust is expected to start Thursday's game against Pittsburgh on a line with Brad Richards and Brandon Dubinsky. He has 10 points and 76 penalty minutes in 44 games this season. Prust's promotion will bump captain Ryan Callahan to the unit alongside Brian Boyle and Ruslan Fedotenko. We wouldn't anticipate this adjustment lasting for very long.

Brandon Prust, who has been playing through an lower body injury, might be out of the woods. "I feel good now. Pretty much all healed up," Prust said. The ailment was partially related to a hit he received on October 29th. He has five points and 26 penalty minutes in 15 games this season.
