McMillan wasn't tendered a qualifying offer by the Canucks on Monday and will become a free agent, Brad Ziemer of the Vancouver Sun reports. McMillan played in eight games last season for the Canucks, notching one point. He'll likely try to earn a fourth-line role with another club this coming season.

McMillan was placed on waivers Saturday, Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet.ca reports. McMillan continued to practice with the Canucks after the transaction was announced, so there's a chance he could remain with the club even after he clears waivers Sunday. The team was likely motivated to make the move in an attempt to free up salary cap space ahead of Monday's trade deadline.

The 24-year-old has produced only three points in 50 games this season.

Even if he does stay with Arizona this time around, McMillan won't have an inside track on a regular lineup spot. The team claimed Mark Arcobello from the Penguins on Wednesday, and he'll effectively replace McMillan in the lineup for the games to come.

He will head to AHL Portland if he's not claimed by another team.

It took him 29 games, but McMillan finally scored his first goal of the year Tuesday in a 2-1 overtime win against the Oilers. He'd managed all of two points and a minus-9 rating while playing depth-line minutes in the first 28 games of the year, and he only skated 8:13 in Tuesday's game despite it going to overtime. So needless to say, there's not much fantasy upside in McMillan right now.

McMillan was able to grab one of the Coyotes' final roster spots, Sarah McLellan of The Arizona Republic reports. Last season, he was able to turn a mid-season call-up into regular minutes with Arizona, where he played in 22 games and scored 2 goals and 4 assists. McMillan was bothered by a groin injury earlier in training camp but seems to have found his stride on a line with Joe Vitale and B.J. Crombeen during the preseason. Look for his offensive numbers to increase from last season but he won't have much of a fantasy impact even if he does play more games this season.

McMillan is not playing Monday due to a lower body injury, Sarah McLellan of the Arizona Republic reports. The lower body issue is reportedly not serious, so McMillan should be able to return to action at some point this week, and is expected to be fully healthy for the regular season.
