Marchand and the Panthers are putting the finishing touches on a six-year contract, Pierre LeBrun of TSN reports Monday.
EDGE Analysis
Per The Athletic, Marchand's new deal carries an AAV of $5.25 million. The fact that the team was willing to give the 37-year-old forward that much term does come as a bit of a surprise, so it's possible the contract is frontloaded to allow for a buyout in the future. Still, Marchand managed 51 points in 71 regular-season outings for the Bruins and Panthers while adding another 20 points in 23 postseason games that ended with Marchand and Florida lifting Lord Stanley's Cup.

Marchand scored an empty-net goal on three shots, added two assists and went plus-3 in Sunday's 6-1 win over the Maple Leafs in Game 7.
EDGE Analysis
Different jersey, same Marchand -- the winger once again got the better of Toronto in a winner-take-all game. He posted three goals and five assists over seven games in this second-round series. Prior to Sunday, Marchand had gone without a point in his last five Game 7s, dating back to the 2019 postseason. He's up to three goals, nine assists, 14 shots on net, 19 hits, 32 PIM and a plus-11 rating over 12 contests during this playoff run, which is pretty impressive considering he's been on the third line.

EDGE Analysis

Marchand notched two assists Monday in the Panthers' 5-4 loss to the Maple Leafs in Game 1 of their second-round series.
EDGE Analysis
With Florida down 4-1 to begin the third period, Marchand sparked a rally that ultimately fell short, helping to set up tallies by Eetu Luostarinen and Uvis Balinskis within the first five minutes of the final frame. It's the second straight multi-point performance by the long-time Bruin, and through six playoff games with the Panthers, Marchand has collected six assists.

Marchand has fit like a glove alongside Anton Lundell and Eetu Luostarinen on the third line. Over five playoff contests, Marchand has four assists, five shots on net, 11 hits, five blocked shots, a plus-5 rating and six PIM.
