The Bruins have waived Robins for the purpose of assigning him to AHL Providence, the team's official site reports. Assuming Robins clears waivers, he'll return to Providence, where he saw action in 68 AHL games last season, amassing 221 PIM and 14 points. In three games this season, including his NHL debut, the 32-year-old forward recorded 14 penalty minutes.

In his NHL regular season debut, Robins recorded five hits and seven penalty minutes in 6:58 worth of ice time Wednesday against the Flyers. Robins skated on the Bruins' fourth line Wednesday with Danile Paille and Craig Cunningham, but it remains to be seen if he'll stay in the team's lineup on a consistent basis, with Jordan Caron on the way up from AHL Providence.

Robins is slated to be on the Bruins' opening roster in advance of Wednesday's game against the Flyers. Robins At 32, Robins has yet to play a regular season NHL game, but the Bruins will keep him around for now to help fill the void created by the offseason departure of the rugged Shawn Thornton. Robins is coming off a 2013-14 season in which he recorded 14 points and 221 PIM for AHL Providence.
