Blake Geoffrion has accepted a position as a pro scout with the Columbus Blue Jackets.
Geoffrion retired at the age of 25 after his 2012-13 campaign was cut short when he was hospitalized with a depressed skull fracture. "It's definitely tough to think about never playing again," Geoffrion said. "But it's bittersweet, because I'm excited about this, the next chapter, the next opportunity. I can't wait to get started. I've always followed depth charts, and I've always kept track of the players in this league, what they can and can't do. It's definitely a passion of mine, and I'm excited to join the Blue Jackets."

Blake Geoffrion is participating in the Nashville Predators' development camp.
Geoffrion is an unrestricted free agent after completing his one-year contract with Montreal. His 2012-13 campaign was cut short when he was hospitalized with a depressed skull fracture. At one point he considered retiring, but he has fortunately recovered. It wouldn't be surprising if the Predators decide to sign him to a two-way contract this summer.
