They were the first points in six games for Pouliot, who has failed to produce this season. The 30-year-old is sitting on only 10 points in 44 games after posting 36 points in just 55 games last season. He's barely shooting the puck, but benefited from Jordan Eberle having a breakthrough night Saturday. The potential is there for Pouliot to be a decent scorer, but he's just hasn't been able to hit his stride this season, so see if he can build off this performance before looking at him in a very deep league.

Pouliot collected a first-period assist and recorded two shots on net during Friday's shootout loss to Minnesota.

It's been a disappointing start to 2016-17 for Pouliot, as he has just five goals and seven points through 26 games. He hasn't helped much in the peripheral categories (37 shots, 16 blocked shots, 22 PIM and 15 hits), either. At this point, he's best left to the waiver wire in the majority of seasonal leagues.

Pouliot managed to get five shots on net but didn't post any points as the Oilers dropped a game to the Coyotes on Sunday.

EDGE Analysis

Pouliot is in the midst of a 13-game slump and hasn't looked particularly close to breaking out prior to Sunday's contest. The 30-year-old winger has seen his ice time drop down to around 13 and 14 minutes per game and he's produced one or no shots in nine of those 13 games. Pouliot hasn't been a good start and probably shouldn't be on your roster until he shows that he's fully out of this funk.

Pouliot scored two goals -- including the game-winner -- in a 4-1 victory over the visiting Capitals on Wednesday.

EDGE Analysis

Pouliot beat stud netminder Braden Holtby twice in the second period, sending the fans at Rogers Place into a frenzy. He now has three points in four games since being benched mid-game against the Sabres, and, despite the fact that he'll be hard-pressed to escape the bottom six, Pouliot skates with a fine center in Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and is seeing some time on the second power-play unit (2:13 in this one).

Patrick Maroon's success after coming over to Edmonton means the Oilers may be willing to part with Pouliot via trade this offseason, the Edmonton Journal reports.

EDGE Analysis

Although Pouliot's 2015-2016 campaign ended early due to a shoulder injury, there's been no indication that the issue should bother him heading into next year. However, the sweater he'll be wearing is an open question, as Maroon played well on Connor McDavid's left wing (Pouliot's pre-injury role) and the Oilers can't be happy that the veteran's failed to reach 60 games in each of his first two seasons with them since inking a five-year, $20 million deal. For fantasy purposes, Edmonton is probably one of the best places for Pouliot, as he'd be a bottom-six winger on a lot of other teams.

Pouliot may be suffering from a separated shoulder following a collision in the third period of Sunday's game against the Oilers, John Shannon of Sportsnet reports. The indication is he could miss the remainder of the season.

EDGE Analysis

A key contributor on the line with Connor McDavid and Jordan Eberle, Pouliot's loss would certainly impact the shape of the Oilers' top six moving forward. Expect the team to further update the winger's status in the coming days, but the initial prognosis doesn't seem too promising.

Pouliot tallied a power-play goal on two shots and had four PIM in Tuesday's 5-3 loss to the Ducks.

Since the All-Star break, the 29-year-old veteran has racked up 11 points in eight games -- that's a third of his total points on the season in this short period. In other words, Pouliot is heating up the ice on a nightly basis these days. While the Oilers try to find some consistency with their line shuffling, Pouliot is making sure that, at least on the top line, everything is going just fine.

Pouliot went plus-4 with four assists Thursday, beating Toronto 5-2.

The former first-round pick has clearly enjoyed having Connor McDavid back in the lineup, assisting on both of the 19-year-old's goals. Pouliot is enjoying a productive February, reaching 10 points in a month for the first time this year. The 29-year-old should continue to hold value, especially if the second line continues to perform at a high level.

Pouliot could be a sneaky pickup in Fantasy leagues as he continues to reap the benefits of playing on a line with Connor McDavid and Jordan Eberle. Coach Todd McLellan has been known to tinker with his lines however so caution should be advised.

EDGE Analysis

That's four points in two games coming out of the break for Pouliot, and circumstances suggest this may be a sustainable leap in production -- after all, they've come while he's played on a line with the freshly returned Connor McDavid and Jordan Eberle. That's a great situation for Pouliot, who should still be available off waivers in many season-long leagues and as a dirt-cheap option in daily formats.
