Ferriero signed a contract Tuesday with EC Red Bull Salzburg of Austria. A veteran of 98 career NHL games, Ferriero spent all of the past season with AHL Chicago, where he tallied two goals and seven points in 39 games. He's still just 28 years old, but doesn't seem likely to earn any sort of role with an NHL club even if he opts to return to North America next summer.

Ferriero was reassigned to AHL Chicago over the weekend, NHL.com reports. The blueliner is just a depth player for the Blues, with an appointment to the parent club unlikely this season barring an assortment of injuries. Ferriero totaled 39 points over 54 games for AHL Utica in 2013-14.

Minnesota Wild decline to offer qualifying offers to Ben Ferriero and Joel Broad. The Wild also got a sixth-round pick in the deal. Broda has spent the past three seasons bouncing around the AHL and ECHL since being a fifth-round pick of the Capitals in 2008.
