Bennett scored his first goal of the season on a hard wrister coming down the right wing Tuesday against the Canadiens.
EDGE Analysis
Coach Mike Johnston called Bennett "probably our best player" in the 3-2 loss. The winger, who led Pittsburgh with six shots, has teased fantasy owners with his potential for several seasons. He figures to continue getting opportunities with the Pens looking for production from anyone -- the team's scored three goals in its first three games.

Bennett scored his second preseason goal Monday against the Canadiens.
EDGE Analysis
Bennett is finally healthy and looking to rebuild his career. He projects as a third or fourth line player to start the season, but he's got the talent to play top-six. Bennett has scored 33 points in 96 career contests, showing just a glimpse of his potential.

Bennett recorded a shootout goal in Monday's preseason win over the Blue Jackets.
EDGE Analysis
It was a busy night for the Canadian winger, as he also set seven shots on goal in regulation. Bennett has been a part-time player in the NHL since entering the league in 2012-13, though a bevy of past injuries have prevented him from drawing into more games. He's regarded as a versatile playmaker, so his stock could rise this year if he can get on the ice with consistency.

Bennett signed a one-year, $800,000 contract with the Penguins on Wednesday.
Bennett missed an extended amount of time last season due to a number of injuries, only managing to suit up for 49 of the Penguin's 82 games in 2014-15. In those 49 games, Bennett tallied four goals and eight assists for a total of 12 points. He will return to his bottom-six role with Pittsburgh in 2015-16. If he manages to stay healthy for the length of the season, his offensive numbers will likely increase.

Bennett (upper body) said Sunday that he's fully healthy heading into the offseason, Seth Rorabaugh of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
The upper-body injury resulted in Bennett being scratched for the final three games of the Penguins' first-round series with the Rangers, but it looks like he would have been a candidate to play had his team extended the series to six games. With just 10 goals and 33 points in 96 games over his three seasons with the Penguins, Bennett has yet to emerge as the top-six winger the team thought it had on hand when they selected him 20th overall in 2010. He'll be a restricted free agent this summer, but it remains to be seen if the Penguins will tender him a contract.

Bennett (upper body) will not play in Friday's Game 5 against the Rangers, NHL.com's Dan Rosen reports.
The Penguins won't make any lineup changes as they face elimination, but Bennett may stand some chance to return for Game 6 on Sunday, if the Pens win Friday night.

Bennett (upper body) isn't likely to play in Wednesday's Game 4 against the Rangers, Dave Molinari of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
Bennett returned to the ice for morning skate Wednesday after the injury prevented him from suiting up in Game 3, but the fact that he remained on the ice for extra work suggests he's not due for a return to the lineup. Instead, look for Scott Wilson to once again fill in for Bennett.

Bennett tallied his fourth goal of the season in Tuesday's overtime loss to the Senators.
It was Bennett's first goal since Jan. 20, and just his fourth point overall since that time. The 23-year-old opened the season with hopes of snagging a top-six role for the Penguins, but his inability to get hot as kept him primarily on the team's third or fourth line. His utility remains limited to very deep dynasty leagues.

Bennett assisted on Pittsburgh's lone goal Sunday, taking a career-high nine shots on goal against the Blackhawks. The game was likely Bennett's best in his young career. Coach Mike Johnston didn't skate him in overtime, so the team still doesn't have full confidence in him, but he's on the right path after recently sitting out four games as a healthy scratch.
