Raanta (upper body) won't be in the lineup for Thursday night's game versus the Blue Jackets.
EDGE Analysis
With Raanta sidelined, the Hurricanes will undoubtedly recall a goaltender to fill in against Columbus. At this point it isn't clear how long Raanta, who's gone 5-2-1 while posting a 2.35 GAA and a .908 save percentage through 10 appearances, will be on the shelf.

Raanta (upper body) won't play Saturday versus the Panthers.
EDGE Analysis
It's unclear when Raanta was injured or how severe the ailment is, but it's enough to keep him off the ice Saturday. Alex Lyon will start and Frederik Andersen will serve as the backup against the Panthers. Raanta's next chance to play is Tuesday versus the Flyers.

Raanta stopped only six of nine shots before being replaced by Frederik Andersen to begin the second period of Saturday's 7-4 win over the Blue Jackets.
EDGE Analysis
It was a strange game, as the Jackets still held the lead after two periods before completely falling apart in the third when their starting netminder, Daniil Tarasov, left with a lower-body injury. The late rally allowed Raanta to escape a loss and overshadowed his own poor effort, and on the season he still sports a solid 2.35 GAA and .908 save percentage.

Raanta will patrol the crease during Saturday's road matchup with the Blue Jackets, Chip Alexander of The Raleigh News & Observer reports.
EDGE Analysis
Raanta was pretty sharp in his last start Dec. 12 versus Vancouver, stopping 24 of 26 shots, but he ultimately suffered his third loss of the season due to insufficient goal support from his teammates. The 32-year-old backstop will try to bounce back with a win in a tough road matchup with a Columbus club that's 10-3-1 at home this year.

Raanta made 26 saves in a 4-0 win over Montreal on Thursday.
EDGE Analysis
It was his 14th NHL shutout and first since Feb. 4, 2020 when he stoned the Oilers while still in a Coyotes' uniform. Raanta's game sharpened as the night progressed. His ice time remains limited as the Canes' backup, but he's a solid daily play when he's in the blue paint.

Raanta will get the starting nod for Thursday's home tilt with Montreal, Walt Ruff of the Canes' official site reports.
EDGE Analysis
Raanta will make his first appearance since Dec. 12 where he allowed two goals on 26 shots in a loss to Vancouver. The veteran netminder is 4-2-1 with a 2.37 GAA and a .907 save percentage this season. He won his last home outing on Dec. 4 against Buffalo.

Raanta allowed two goals on 26 shots in Sunday's 2-1 loss to the Canucks.
EDGE Analysis
Raanta had a solid outing, but the Hurricanes' offense was jumbled up with Sebastian Aho (illness) unavailable. The 32-year-old Raanta dropped to 4-2-1 with a 2.37 GAA and a .907 save percentage in eight contests. The Finn will likely continue to see most of his starts in the second halves of back-to-back sets or against lower-scoring opponents, as Frederik Andersen has been steady in a starter's workload this year.

Raanta will start Sunday's game against the Canucks, Chip Alexander of The Raleigh News & Observer reports.
EDGE Analysis
With workhorse netminder Frederik Andersen between the pipes Saturday in Edmonton, it'll be Raanta who takes the reins on the latter half of the back-to-back set. Despite a 4-1-1 record in limited backup duty this season, Raanta's .904 save percentage leaves something to be desired.

Raanta stopped 32 of 34 shots in Saturday's 6-2 win over the Sabres.
EDGE Analysis
With Frederik Andersen under the weather Saturday, Raanta was called on for his second straight start. The 32-year-old Finn was solid this time, with plenty of goal support from his Hurricanes teammates. Raanta is up to a 4-1-1 record with a 2.41 GAA and a .904 save percentage through seven appearances. With a couple days off before the Hurricanes begin a Western Canada road trip, it's likely Andersen will be healthy enough to play Tuesday versus the Jets, leaving Raanta to resume his backup duties.
