Anton Lander was demoted to Oklahoma City of the AHL Saturday. The Oilers needed his roster spot for Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, who returned to action after missing 20 of the Oilers' last 22 games due to a shoulder injury. Lander has ridden the Oiler shuttle this season. We see no reason to recommend him at this time.

Edmonton coach Tom Renney wants Dallas forward Steve Ott suspended for his blindside hit on the Oilers Anton Lander. Ott received a two minute minor for checking to the head and also picked up a five minute major for fighting as Lander's teammate Josh Green came to his defense. Lander continued to play the remainder of the game. "My head is good, no problem," Lander said. "I saw him coming, but it's great to have Greener there." Lander was the captain of the Swedish World Junior team last season and the Oilers are high on the former second round pick's skill level.

Anton Lander needs a few more days to recover from an infected hand. Given that the Oilers don't play again until Wednesday against Carolina, we don't expect Lander to miss any more games.

Anton Lander could be back in the Edmonton lineup on Saturday after missing two games with an infected hand. Lander said the injury happened a couple of games earlier. He only has a goal and two points in 23 games this year, so his return to the lineup should not affect your fantasy lineup as he should not be in it.

Anton Lander will not play on Wednesday after a cut on his hand became infected. The issue isn't expected to be a long-term one though. Lander has one goal and one assist in 23 games this season.

Twenty-year-old Anton Lander scored his first NHL goal in the Edmonton Oilers' 5-2 loss to the Ottawa Senators on Thursday night. It was his second point in 16 contests this year. Lander had 26 points in the Swedish Elite League last season, and is no more than a depth player at this point. Ryan Jones also potted a goal, his fourth of the season, in the loss, while Ryan Smyth continued his great season with an assist, his 18th point of the year.

He was a long shot to stick with the Edmonton Oilers at the start of training camp but look for Anton Lander to open the season with the NHL team this week. With the Oilers down to 27 players, six of them injured and doubtful for Oct. 9, the 20-year-old Swede will be around opening night. "I'll sleep much better this night than the night before, that's for sure," said Lander, who learned Monday morning that he'll start the season in Edmonton, not Oklahoma "I was a little nervous, there are a lot of good guys in the organization and it was hard competition." Lander, right from the start of prospects camp, kept impressing the coaches with his skills, commitment and head for the game. It was his rise up the depth chart that caused Edmonton to unload Gilbert Brule.
